Stamkos demoted to Matthews wing.
- RonPielep

I don't think he'd ever come without some assurance that he plays center.

Isn't that his biggest "problem" with TBL?

Haven't heard from that lad in ages. I'm worried Froese and Holland may not have a job next year

they will, just won't be with the Leafs

now we have to go through this stuff

I just hope they don't over think this and start entertaining trade ideas.

There is almost nothing as valuable as a true #1C with size. I can't think of a reasonable offer I would take.

Draft Matthews.
Continue the rebuild.

So in a year where the nhl overreacts and attempts to discourage tanking by changing the lottery, the team with the least intent on winning games, wins the lottery as well creating the potential for a large negative impact on teams that werent trying to lose.

A lottery win in the same city that repeatedly condemned tanking a year ago, while lauding their team for committing the same act the very next season.

That's his issue with Tampa atm. I think Toronto can afford to let him be 1st or 2nd centre and move Nylander to the wing. The issue that many people bring up is the cap and it's hard to pay him $10 mil/year for x amount of years knowing the kids will need to re-sign.

Your current GM left the Devils, and the rest of the dinosaurs followed.
- smellmyfinger

Gotcha. He seems to have changed his ways (unless Shanny does it all for him and Lou's the enforcer)

I can't imagine Shanny doing anything with that pick. People still don't trust the management due to history.

Humor me for one more "trade" scenario

Would you Leafs fans be at all interested in acquiring Shattenkirk?

Kids won't be free agents for seven years, after Stamkos contract expires.

Different set of circumstances for the Leafs then his last few years with the Devils. He was desperately trying to keep the window open in NJ. He still has it though. I bet he fleeces a few GMs in the near future. Probably when he trades for a franchise goalie.

At the right price, "of course". We need D, and they also take longer to mature, so would be a decent fit likely.

Especially if said kids end up out-performing Stamkos. With the Kadri and Reilly signings the Leafs have done a good job setting a good precedent that high $$ contracts will need to be earned. I don't think it's a good idea to (frank) that internal cap management up by signing Stammer to a record breaking contract.

Honestly, if I am Lou, I phone the new Coyotes GM every day and offer the 1st overall, in the hopes that he eventually caves and offers something incredibly stupid.

I don't think they want to give him up at all.
