Says the guys who just bought his 1st house

But if you guys don't mind having a farm team out here in Auckland, all us expats would be stoked!

I always looked at our team and the Sharks as in the same light. We often seem to be very close in similarity . Happy to see them win a round.

I thought we battled them well this year . I think the big difference of them and us is Bent Burns. I think if we weren't struck with so many injuries we could have been in the mix. ( RC made a very good point of the training staff yesterday).

I think a smart draft , a healthy year and a good trade and pick up and we will be back in there too. We do need a new look D , and Benning has added 3 pieces in the last month.

I don't think he was serious, he was making a joke at Dragon's expense.

There's some terrific hockey players to be had throughout the NHL Draft, you've just gotta have the right people in place to find them, I'm hoping Jim Benning is that guy.

With any luck at all, and there's a lot of luck involved with drafting, they'll get the first overall pick and draft their next franchise centerman.

Hopefully Mr. Benning can find our franchise defenseman somewhere in the late first or second round and beyond.

Canucks and luck are measured in degrees of badness. (There was even an article about the Canucks Curse today.) Expecting or even hoping for them to win first overall is just setting yourself up for another routine disappointment.

Logically, given the inexplicable misfortunes of this team, the only way your desired scenario would be possible is if you were to have your heart set on something completely different.

For example: We lowly fans should wish hard for the (expected) 5th or 6th pick and a successful trade down to get two mid-round firsts. If we really and truly believe this option to be the best thing for this team then, and only then, would the Canucks end up with a top 3 pick. You know, just to screw up our plans.

Embrace the power of reverse negative visualization.

They have Marleau, thorton, couture, pavelski, burns and vlasic. I would say they have been underachieving for years.

Na...there's no such thing as a curse, people who buy into that crap need help. The team has been poorly managed....period! They've never built a team through the draft like 99% of championship teams do....there's your answer to why they haven't won.

Drafting anywhere in the top six is gonna get them a really good young player, I just hope it's top three.

It would be interesting to see what Rangers wanted for a package for Stepan and McDonah

Brassard would be a nice pickup for the Nucks. McDonagh is Edler, a really good top four dman but not a number 1.

They should send the Sedins to the Rangers

I like McD .

The Sedins and Nash could probably play well together. I wouldn't mind if Canucks and Rags swapped some players

Stephan doesn't have a NTC for two years , Brassard does.

I also really like the San Jose and have said before we should be aiming for the "Shark Model".

While Burns is definitely an upgrade over Edler I think the biggest difference between our clubs is that they have been able to draft and develop really well and that youth has been able to compete.

Couture, Neito, Hertl, Donskoi, Karlsson, Tierney, Meier, Goldobin, Coyle etc. all mostly while being a playoff team.

YES!

Detroit and the Florida's are the other obvious destinations.

Although Detroit and NY are probably trying to get younger, no older.
Maybe to Tampa/Florida for a big shakeup. In a couple years.

Yup....this guy drafting for the Canucks gives me a lot of hope towards the future. If he's aloud to continue drafting (not fired) for five consecutive years, I think he'll be able to build a solid foundation.

If we get enough Finns on the team maybe all the Swedes will ask for a trade

Love to see Dale Talon take a run at them to play behind Barkov. They'd make a great second line there. Barkov is an absolute stud and he's only 20 years old.

They've got cap space and prospects and picks to make it happen

So far looks good, but all drafts look good 1&2 years later. I also have faith that he will be able to find some good players but I'm going to hold off on the high fives for now until we see them start to excel in the NHL.
