How future? Near or distant?

Not sure. I see JB as being hired based on his strengths... which is drafting. The owner recognized the obvious... so few prospects... generation gap. Once the organization is re-stocked and players are maturing, if the team fails to be competitive... I assume their will be replacements hired.

JB is going to have to improve his trading capabilities. The strategy of hiring the BPA every draft doesn't usually balance out a roster. He's going to have to sign and trade for that. If he fails when the time comes. Hire some experience...

Happy Draft Lottery Eve!

The new blog has a few thoughts on that, plus Travis Green's future, Drake Caggiula's visit and more clarity on expansion draft rules.

I agree with this.

I like that Aquilini has hired people with new ideas on how a NHL team is to be managed. But I don't like the fact he's gone out and hired two rookie GMs in a row now.

I think we can all agree the first experiment, although it had some very high moments, overall was a failure. So what does he do… goes right back out and hires another management team with little experience in the positions.

Wonder why he’s shying away from more established names.

I don't understand why so many people are high on Green replacing WD. Green and WD both would have entered the NHL with the same credentials. AHL success. Thats it. WD has him beat in that league though.

It would be more or less the same thing. A rookie coach trying to find his way with a team that is both too young and too old at the same time and lacking depth. When the injuries come... is the outcome going to be much different?

If a rookie coach is not getting it done, you replace him with experience... not less experience than the rookie you are about to fire.
