AMac has more value if it wasn't for his contract length. Streit was bad, but it's only for one year, and a team may take a shot on him returning to form if the price is right (late 2nd/early to mid 3rd).

I'd take a 4th if it meant no salary retained.

I can see Hexy using Flyer's #1 and Chicago's #2 to move up a few spaces at the draft

Def Read and Streit #1 priority. Try to package Streit with pick or prospect, and it shouldn't be a problem to a team like Arizona.
- MrBigglesworth

Why give away a pick or prospect for a guy whose contract expires at the end of the season? They'll have enough space to do whatever they want in UFA this year (except for maybe Stamkos, if they go after him) and then he's gone. No need to just give away assets.

As would I...but they'd have to retain 50% unless they take an equally bad contract back.

Buying out Andy MacDonald, at this point, would be terrible cap management. It is what it is for the next 2 years at least, then you can explore it.
- jmatchett383

Best hope is he plays very well and makes himself valuable. Or it might be a deal like Hartnell for Umberger where the contract ends sooner.

I don't know if it's worth it. Unless they can get into the top-5 (Matthews, 2 Finns, Chychrun, Tkachuk), there seems to be a pretty level field in the 6-20 range. I don't think the 2nd rounder moves you up more than maybe 2 spots.

AMac, Umberger and a 5th round pick

- BiggE

Don't really care if you guys don't believe me, but I do trust the person who told me. Again, all I heard is there have been discussions with Boston and I've got no idea what we'd be sending. My guess would be Streit/Schultz, (insert forward or prospect here), plus 2nd round pick.

As for the reason to grab him, even though he's on the decline he'd still be a big improvement to the Flyers blueline. Could also help mentor the young guys we've got coming up, specifically Morin.

Who does Button currently peg at 17? I assume no matter the name it's not the same name on the flyers' board.

I think they will retain money to move him. I know the preach patience but I don't see how they keep Provorov off the roster.

With Del Zotto back you could slide Provorov onto a pairing with a vet like Schultz or Gudas.

Also I see Provorov on the 2nd PP instead of Streit.

I wonder what Laughton's future is with the team. I could see a scenario where he is swapped for another propect in same shoes. Also could see him getting a full offseason on the wing.

Chara would be a huge mistake. No way am I giving up 2nd round pick and 2 roster players/Roster player and prospect for a guy who is older than Streit....

I think they'd rather try to retain 50% of Streit's final year and move him to create room. That's a much easier sell.

I have the same feeling.

Calgary interest me a little as they have a big need for goaltending. Could Mason and 2nd rounder get you to 5? Probably not enough.

If we stay at the 17-18 range I see maybe a guy like Max Jones, Keiffer Bellows or Julien Gauthier being there.

Stupid rule. If I name the source the person would most likely be fired as they're clearly not supposed to be talking about this stuff.

But whatever, I've said my piece. Not a sure thing it will happen, but if it does I'll enjoy rubbing it in everyone's face here.

He has warts but he is an NHL player. Albeit an expensive 3rd paiting player. No reason to buy him out over the next couple years we don't need the cap room
