I love it when our D gets more solid

too many chances for injury. now with the world championships

and then later with that fake tournament the nhl made up. enough already

I sent them a letter requesting an over 35 team but all they sent me was a small well wrapped box with a red foam clown nose inside.

I thought they might offer me a job.

some of the UFA dmen 17-18

Kulikov
Franson
Alzner
Bruns
Shattenkirk
Hedman
Del Zotto

- J35Bacher

Not that I think he would ever make it to UFA status but sign me up 100% of the time on Hedman.

Franson is the only guy on that list who might make free agency

Are you kidding me? Stamkos! Hedman! Shattenkirk! Trade Fraud and Jake for a bag of pucks! The St. Philadelphia Lightning will be the best for years to come.

Actually, a Derian Hatcher in his prime would have been a huge help against the Caps. When 4 of your D are under 200 pounds and the other 2 are under 205, you are going to lose a lot of battles in the corners, along the wall, and in front of the net.

While skill and speed and of course, hockey sense, are more important than ever in today's game, there is still a need for size and strength.

- BiggE

Hatcher was the Flyers' most effective player in 2008 playoffs even on two bad knees. Yeah, I'd take a Hatcher type 7 days a week and twice on Sundays. Gills and Grossmannnn types not so much.

I wouldn't want franson on my team in 10,000 years. He's the softest big man I've ever seen, forever looks lost in his own zone, doesn't block shots, incredibly average at skating the puck out of the zone.

Grossmann was a beast for Flyers in 2012 and 2014 playoffs until concussion in 2012 and the 2014 inj that ended his playoffs.

That's why he'll be the one on that list who slides into free agency

Exactly!

Someone behind me was complaining about Gost coming off after that and her boyfriend was saying he was a rookie and was confused. No, dipwad, he just got slewfooted and would like to know his leg is still attached.

- bodiva88

That's not a slew foot at all. I don't even think its a kneeing. Ovie established his leg position.

I was more showing that there really aren't a ton of big names in 17-18. Also I would agree that Hedman is probably resigned. I would think Alzner too.

I would want Gudas on multi-year deal. He was good this season. 3rd best defenseman on the team after Ghost and MDZ. Also, complements both of them well

Yeah, not even close to a slew foot. It looks bad but I don't think that's even a minor. The point of contact was almost entirely dictated by Gostisbehere trying to avoid the check. Nothing wrong with that. He actually got his leg out of danger by getting it off the ice. If he was planted there it would have been ugly.

by extending it as he crossed the goal line
he's not even going for the puck at all. total intentional knee to knee

Gudas is an easy resign. 2 Yrs at 2.5-3 mil is fine.

I don't get the MDZ love. IMO he's average as an offensive defensemen and below average in his own end.

That's just the way I see it but I read a lot of people really high on him. If you compare him to the rest of the league I think he comes off looking completely different than if you're just looking at the 7 D on the Flyers. Of course he looks really good compared to the rest of our D.

Whatever the intent you do realize that the point of contact was hip on hip?

Are we going to see another year of Streit/Schultz/Amac on the D?

What will Hexy do?

Umberger I think is bought out.
Gudas I think will be signed to a 2 year deal, 2.25 yr one then 2.75 yr two.
Amac is unmovable most likely.
Streit I love but man this year with his injury, he looks done.
Schultz is a warrior and was ok defensively but they need a better two way player.

Can Streit and/or Schultz be traded?
Seems unlikely but who knows.

No way this happens, but no matter how many times I've simmed/played NHL16 Flyers 2015-16 season, Streit ALWAYS retires at the end

I disagree and think he's played really well. MDZ, Ghost and Gudas are all keepers IMO. Streit, Schultz, Manning and MacDonald are the ones to replace with the young guys.

Probably not for a good return this summer, but with only one year left for each of them it's not a big deal. Start the season with these guys and promote Morin when he's ready.
