Brown has 6 years at an AAV of $5.875 million. He's barely a 3rd liner anymore hitting ~27 points in 3 seasons in a row. I don't think he's remotely movable. Maybe if they eat half the money and package Toffoli lol - Mononoke
They might have to.
Just like if Datsyuk retires. Detroit will want to move that 7.5 cap hit. Only way would be to add 1st rounder or a prospect(svechnikov,Oulette,Sproul) to the deal |

Brown is one of the worst contracts in the league. Guy fell off a cliff. And then another cliff. - hereticpride
He actually had a bit of a resurgence this year, but yeah...it is a very bad contract and this year was probably best case scenario. 30 points from that contract haha. People complaining about Giroux and Jake contracts really have no idea how bad it is elsewhere sometimes |

In what world could Bradford think a 2 year deal means you're the guy in the future? Any reasonable player would realize a 2 year deal means you're cannon fodder until the next guy comes in. Bradford is getting paid a poop ton of money for accomplishing nothing in his career AND he's a guy that has made excuses at EVERY level for why he's failed. - 2Real
I have never heard Bradford make excuses. I have heard fans make them.

Konecny or Martel maybe from my view of contracted players. - dragonoffrost
Martel was not a Black Aces selection, so I'd tend to doubt it. Leier for sure will have a chance to compete for a spot. So will Konecny but he's NOT a lock to play in the NHL next season. |

He is effectively a 3rd liner signed through 2022 at which point he will be 37. Kings can eat all the money they want. No one is taking on a depth guy for that kind of term. |

Bardreau was a player I liked. Killed penalties. Good skater. Could chip in offense. Thought he could be a nice 4th line player.
Also wonder if Colin McDonald could push a guy like Vandevelde to the phantoms. |

They do...their situation is bleak though...they need to get rid of somebody pretty soon...will have to retain on Brown and or Gaborik. They will have around 10 million but they really need to find a way to keep their young guys - YuenglingJagr
Lombardi did a lot of good work as a GM, but he has looked very stupid the last couple years coming off their last Cup. I hope Hexy doesn't emulate him after we win our Cup. Should never have resigned Gaborik (he was vital in winning that 2nd Cup...but that contract is awful and looked awful at the time. Shoulda just moved on). Should have bought out Richards. Brown contract is a complete albatross. Sekera got injured, but that's not a great trade.
Bowman has done the same this year. Last year they won the Cup....hard to criticize, but they won it in spite of their trades which did not help. I don't get GMs sometimes. I understand going all in for a Cup, even if it rarely works, but both teams have won MULTIPLE over the last years. Their core is still OK. Maybe take 1-2 years and retool, then go in again. A lot of times this yearly craze does more damage. If you don't believe you can win 2-3 years from now....why the (frank) do you sign Seabrook to 8 years? |

Yeah none of the kids are locks really. Remember when Giroux was a lock? He ended up not cracking the lineup until December 31! |

Or you can look at it with orange colored glasses....maybe Hextall had more to do with building that team than he is given credit for :D
Building a team is one thing though. Challenging, but it is a pretty clear focus and picture that mostly involves just getting better. Keeping a team competitive in this era is a completely different story. It takes a lot of guts, risk, intelligence, and mainly luck to continue to win and keep the core of your team together. Bowman deserves some credit, but he couldnt have done this without Kane and without those long drawn out contracts from before the lockout. |

For a team that tends to struggle on the PK do they really want another 100+ PIM player on their team? |

whatever you believe there are no more excuses for bradford this will be his 6th professional season and he's yet to show jack poop. I'd say having Wentz develop for 3 years is a good plan B if Bradford continues to be a failure. We don't have forever to wait for Bradford to turn into a franchise QB. |

who says our PK don't get better after we fire the guy responsible, keep bringing up our dmen, and make neuvirth the starter. |

Enough to put us in a very nice position moving forward with players needing extensions, players needing their new contracts off ELCs, maybe a couple medium sized FAs.
Or enough to throw money at all the highest priced FAs and scream YOLO! while jumping off the Comcast Center. |

Bowman had some help with the rules, but he masterfully navigated his way to those Cups. The amount of restructuring the teams...he identified his core (rightly so), and moved on from those he thought they could afford to lose. And they could. But lately he just seems panicky. |

He made the right calls then...it became a lot harder when Toews and Kane started making 10 million |

I can see it from Bradfords side.
They probably promised him a bunch of things, like using all these picks to help solidify things like receivers and line help. But now those picks have been used to solidify bradfords replacement.
The eagles brought this on themselves. - J35Bacher
I have a lot of trouble seeing it from his side in a way that makes sense. I get it sucks if maybe he was mislead, but the guy was OK last year on a one year deal. Never really did anything in St. Louis and has missed a lot of time with injuries. They signed him to a 2 year deal which shouldn't instill any confidence that he is their long term starter.
Why in the world should he feel disrespected that the Eagles are trading up to draft 2nd overall and get a potential future quarterback? Maybe the guy they draft is a bust, maybe Bradford is lights out and they go with him longer than a year or two. Makes no sense to me that now he's demanding a trade and refuses to show up for off season work outs. The guy has done nothing to earn the right to be the number 1 guy without any questions asked. |

I am a Cowboys fan. I could care less who is the QB. Just saying I haven't heard Bradford himself make excuses or complain. I have heard it from fans and others.
I understand the need for a franchise QB and planning for the future. But I can also see why Bradford might be a little pissed too. |

damn but you have forever to give wentz 3 years before you play him?
in today's nfl that is unheard of. rodgers was the last guy that will ever get to marinate like that. |
