I'm hoping read is a phantom. Id resign white as depth for another year. Dispatch Gagner. What about Jamie mcginn for size and Cullen a year for speed

I'd like to see things out with Cousins for next year. He looked good.

Would also like to bring Gagner back on a 1 year deal as I thought he played well and adds to the (lack of) playmaking in the top 9.

A deal for a right handed dman like Demers is definitely something I'd be interested in. Other than that, just keep the train of development moving. They exceeded expectations, but I would like them to approach the offseason the same way they would if the team missed the playoffs by 10 points.

- PhillySportsGuy

I think Cuz proved he is a legit NHL center. He's gritty, tough on the forecheck, and plays a quite intelligent 2-way game. He has good hands and a decent shot, but he so rarely gets to use them at evens due to his skating. I'm OK seeing how he does at 3C next year. Laughton-Cousins worked well. Maybe swap Read out for Leier. Speed to burn on the wings to mitigate. Still not sure he's not just a high end 4C. I also proposed Raffl as a 3C, but that probably seems unlikely except for spot starts.

Find a way to buy out Lindblom's last year in Sweden. Even if he can't crack the Flyers line-up in preseason, I think he would develop a lot better in a top 6 role in the AHL as opposed to a bottom 6 role in Sweden.

Depending on price and term I have some interest in Perron.

It's really down to what Lindblom wants. He can opt out. He absolutely proved his game translates and translates well in his small sample. He could be a real dark horse for earning a spot with the big team. He's used to playing top line minutes in one of the best men's leagues in the world (played on first line not bottom 6). He's so mature in his game for a kid who is still 19 for 5 months. Either way he won't spend long in the AHL, I think.

As a fan, this doesn't even feel like an elimination. It feels like the start of a beautiful thing.

The one guy that maybe I hoped to see more from this season was Laughton. Still very early in his career, curious to see where it goes.

Let's hope he does more in the offseason than he did at the trade deadline. Not to bust on him too much cause he's done an amazing job overall, but doing nothing at the deadline came across to me as a bit of a cop out.

If you don't believe in the team, as it is, trade for the future. If you do believe, trade for the playoffs. When you have all those extra picks and an abundance of prospects, you're supposed to do something. Any of us could sit there and do nothing.

Ok off the soap box. Anyone watching the beatdown USA is giving Canada in the under 18 Bronze Medal game? 9-2 DOH!

- WhirlingDervish

no trade they could have made would have put them over the top so why bother? I rather see them stay the course like they did. look at the trades the rangers have made the last 3 deadlines. no thannks

I thought I read he was getting 3rd line minutes in the men's league. I must be wrong, which happens a lot. With his success in a limited time with the Phantoms, I'm assuming he should have a pretty good idea if he wants to continue his professional career in North America.

I'd be ok with experimenting with Raffl at C. I just think keeping Cousins there allows for flexibility moving forward and gives him a real chance to solidify the position. If they go out and sign someone, Cousins gets buried on the bench or the 4th line or is forced to play wing (something I'm not sure he's suited for).

If they were going to cash in the assets to get a young, stud center, I would rather wait another year when we have more stability and a better idea of how the young defense/wingers look.

trAIDSburger in Paradise.

Prospect pool has a dearth of centers. You know these troofs to be self-evident. That's why I am all for trading up for top prospect Stephen Stamkos.

thankfully Vinny is retiring to they clear up the 2.25 in dead cap space. Umberger not playing even after injuries tells you they are buying him out which saves them 3 million next yr then of course is 1.5 in dead space the following. would love to find a way to move on from Read and Streit. I wouldn't bring Gagner back. this team needs size and speed and really be brings neither. If they do bring him back it better be well less than his current contract

Cousins did admirably. I'm just not sure I see the high ceiling to him as 3C. I think he could be a very good 4C, and if Hak is going to slobber over the 4th line, might as well be a very good one instead of the meat and potatoes and shots against group we have now. I do think that between Laughton and Leier or someone could work for the time being.

I don't want to cash in assets, as in players, for a young center. I DO want to see them move up in the draft. With 2 2nds and 2 3rds to work with, it's possible to move up a handful of spots w/out trading a prospect. I'm usually a quantity guy, but their present prospect situation strikes me as a time to splurge on quality. Splurge on quality hehe.

How about Caggiula? It would be a nice pick up, even though they still would need a legit top 6 NHL player .

Thought they showed a lot of guts against a more talented Washington team. It was pretty obvious they didn't have the skill to keep up (except in net) but hopefully we see a little more next year with Provorov and Konecny. Can't wait until the draft as Hexy is a wizard. Just watched the under 18's and I really hope Jost falls to them. Also watched Max Jones a lot this year and although he goes over the edge sometimes he's a beast LW who is going to get first line minutes next year in London.

I mean...sure if he signs with us. It's not like it hurts; Flyers need a LW, and I'm a fan. If he signs with us, there is zero cost other than a roster spot.
