i know i keep repeating myself but he needs to cut, even slightly, to the middle before shooting on the pp. he did it so often last year. he never does it now - Crimsoninja
Jake? As soon as I read this, I saw the move you were describing... |

Mason was a monster down the stretch for a lot longer than 2 games and has had a rough playoff, but the team has given him zilch. Now he's persona non grata around some parts. Neuvy was a (frank)ing Godzilla tonight. But you don't make decisions based on 2 games or even 20. It's why Mason's hot stretch late is not really any more valuable info than Neuvy's 2nd half decline. Same for their playoffs. And career years and then regression do happen. A lot.
If a team was willing to part with a first for Neuvy, in a Martin Jones type deal, it's a no brainer for me. I don't really see that happening, or a trade this summer, but anything is in play come next deadline. Only one can stay long term. I love having both though and first half of next year could be key. Mason does have the longer track record. And his down year this year is a myth. He was actually way better than his raw stats indicate. It's probably best to hedge their bets and keep both, barring a steal of a trade. Helps with contract demands too. - Mononoke
they don't make it without mason. he was huge. i'm a big fan of his and think he's been one of the best goalies they've had in a long, long time. he's been great as a flyer overall. i don't blame him for games 2 and 3. granted, both bad goals were go ahead goals, but not the reason they lost.
i want to keep both, and have wanted to keep both. everything that's happened this season supports my reasoning. |

Yup. Checking his numbers, from Jan 2 til March 16, his save percentage was 90.67% with 9 wins. He had 1 game against Carolina where he gave up 3 goals on 18 shots for an 83% save percentage. Remove that 1 game and his save percentage goes up to 91.20% from the New Year prior to his injury. - wolfhounds
A more important fact is that the team has seemed to play better with him in goal. No idea why. |

Mason, over roughly the same time frame (Jan 7 - Mar 19) had a 91.87 save percentage. |

So true. Washington has been every bit as dirty as rev flyers this series. In fact as mad as they have been at Schenn, ov has targeted several players with questionable hits along with the chimera dirt. But no, destroying cooter is ok, killing Laughton fine and throwing Jake and McDonald into the board from behind. That s just working hard. - Hextall271
seriously, F them. they've been running guys all series long, so they can suck it. they have plenty of guys that are big and hit to hurt - wilson, winnick, orpik, chimera, even ovechkin.

No, and it was a real stinker. .786 vs Toronto. Take away that game and his sv% jumps up to 92.56. |

The "hot" goalie belongs to the Flyers in the playoffs, go figure. There are no bad wins in the playoffs. I believe this is the first time this season the Caps have lost back to back games in regulation.
It is going to be really fun on Sunday. - ravishingone
it is. f them.
if they're going to lose, i want it be in game 7 on the road, not at home. not another game 6 home loss. we've had so many of those.
they realistically aren't going to pull this out. i just want them to be competitive and give it their best. and unless the entire top line is dying of various diseases and have broken bones and torn ligaments, one of them needs to contribute.
i'm very proud of this team for how they've battled this year, no matter what happens.

It might not have been pretty but the Flyers deserve some real admiration for bringing it and keeping themselves in this series.
Its unlikely to end well for you guys but it's nice to see a team committed to going down swinging. Hope you guys can serve up a nice big poopburger for the Crapitols. - Queenie_5_hole
Tonight wasn't very different from the game 3 debacle other than we had and all time goalie performance |

Even to take them to six games is Epic. Stuff evens out over a series. Prob should have won one of te first two games really. If we had any semblance of a pp that could even keep the puck in the other end is say we could take it to seven, but wow it's off the charts bad.
If we had a 15 or 20 percent pp in the series were prob up 3 2. |
