That series vs Calgary and that fight with Iggy during scf.
I remember tracking down a pub in NZ to watch that game.

So is Lindholm worth a 1st & 3rd at his age for 5.4m per?
Or rather not sign a good young top 4 D & hope for a bottom 5 finish?

Realistically we r not a bottom 5 team IMO

Anaheim has cap room and would match. So what have you accomplished? We have a GM that can draft. Let's give him as many high picks as possible. (frank) offer sheets. There is a reason they don't happen

First of all I don't think the Canucks are rebuilding , I am one of the few that think they will ice a competitive team next year. I think this will be a top 15 team.

I was pointing out to Don if you are going to rebuild pull off the bandaid.

I think now that they have a top 6 pick, Bo JV Boeser JM Sven Eten Demko Markstrom Rodin Tramkin and Hutton rebuildinding is over.

I tend to agree with your post I'm just very anti-offersheet

Understandable.

I think the fact that Benning was looking for players now, and not draft picks at TDL leads me to believe management are happy with the youth movement and we can now carry on the traditional drafting to get prospects. No need to trade for them.

I think with Rangers they have 20 mil but need to get UFAs and sign RFAs. They have very few top draft picks next two years.

So I ask myself the question would I rather draft 15-20 next year or get McIlrath. It would also cost a third rounder. I would rather sign a young McIlrath for 7 years to help us now.

Edit.

The only players I would consider an offer sheet are franchise D...teams don't tend to let these players go. Lindholm? Vatannen? Trouba? Good young players but not worth overpaying and sacrificing a bunch of high picks. My opinion. My strong opinion

The problem is you have to over pay so a team won't match and your reward is giving up picks...perhaps if a team was rammed against the cap it could work but it's a long shot and not a realistic solution. But I appreciate you keep the conversation going

This next year is about developing.

Tanev needs to go to the net more.

Bo has to take his game from 17 goals to over 22 , same with Sven.

JV and Etem need to get there game to 15 goals

Hutton needs to work on his shot.

Tryamkin has to realize his size and power.

And Markstrom needs to realize he is as good as Miller.

Not asking a lot just an improvement

I like the way Kreider crashes the net and injures goalies. That's a playoff skill we could use!

No luck on the simulator this morning, ran it ten times, Leafs with four 1st's, Vancouver with a 1-2-3.

Dubois if we r 4OA.
I've said for years we need a sniper.
Boeser will fill that role down the road but Vrbata showed why we need one as did Naslund.
The D is & always will be an ongoing project as a unit as it is for every team going thru cycles of windows. Depth & constant drafting & development of D should be a strength of JB & only patience is the answer. When their is no clear D in this draft let alone a top 2 stud we go for scoring on the NHL level. I'd like to see 6 solid D as much as anyone but its done by trade or OS fastest IMO.

Trading down & pick say Sergachev is my option if the package makes sense or its BPA as in Mathews Laine Puljaarji Dubois Tkachuk & maybe Jost McLeod etc

Losing Bourdon tragically really hurt us big time.

When we drafted Gradin Smyl & Fraser was our best & an instant 1st line.
Pat Quinn was our master trader & turned the team around overnight.
JB has done great at the draft nabbing Boeser late in the 1st & Tree later on.
I like & see us doing just fine this draft & offseason with JB/TL at the helm.

The more I research Logan Brown the more I'm intrigued by his size and skill! A lot of quality kids out there this draft beyond those top three kids.

Picking outside of the top 3 would be unfortunate, but Dubois could very well be Hanks replacement.
