Northern Alberta? Sorry about that…I've been waiting it out until something comes along, which it always does. In the mean time my golf game has really improved. |

No in central BC. I still have a job in Alberta. I just want to work at home. Tired of the commuting lifestyle.
In golfing news I recently shot a 68...on a par 3. |

I know most think Craig Button is a meathead, but, he just said on 1040 that Chychrun has fallen out of the top ten in his opinion. Said Juolevi and Sergachev are the #1 & #2 dmen in this draft.
Chychrun reminds him of Curtis Leschyshyn who was a good NHL'er but not a top three pick in this draft.
Also very bullish on Keller, Dubois and Brown along with Tkachuk to round out the top six or seven.
Meathead, yes.
Chychrun - Leschyshyn. I see the similarity too. Both are damn tough to spell what with the c's and the h's and the y's and all.
Chychrun has fallen. Wonder how many hundreds of thousands of dollars that bad turnover in the Slovakia game the other night will cost him over the course of his career?
Juolevi and Sergachev may end up being ok, but I'm not convinced any of the D slated to go in the first round will be strong enough to make a positive impact any time soon. Take a forward in the first round. Go all in on D-men after that.

I wish we had a mid round pick to grab Jost or Brown...no to Keller. Incredibly deep draft - CanuckDon
If they don't get one of the top three, I'd like to see Benning pull something off to turn his top 6 pick and 33rd overall into two mid-range first rounders. Based on differing GM opinions and positional needs, multiple players that could be ranked top 10 are likely to be available in the 15-20 spots. |

I agree i like those two but for what ever reason im a no on keller too. I think if we pick top 6 we have to take a forward. If JB is sold a dman he has to trade back 4 or 5 spots. Chances are we pick top 5 so after the top 3 id go dubois then tkachuk and walk away happy. - mauryballstein
He is a midget and we have a small team...don't need any other reason. Agree with your post but I am still leaning towards Tkachuk |

I thought someone suggested Doug Gilmour as his comparable. Doesn't that make the Leafs obligated to take him, regardless of which spot they're in? |

Is this the idea: Boston's 14 and 20, for 6, 33 and 63? or are you two talking separate deals to acquire multiple mid 1sts? |

Actually it means they trade for him when he's over 30. |

Poor Vantel, whomever posted that he's a great talent evaluator has really put him in a bad spot. It'll be a running joke from now on…sorry Vantel - LeftCoaster

All in good fun, at Vantel's expense of course. I'm sitting around the house today as I have an interview for a job in Houston Texas, I hate waiting around the house for "the call".

Ya that's the worst, just anxious and you can't go anywhere. Feels like they're just trying to make you squirm. Houston, eh? Might get some playoff hockey down that way |

That would be an overpayment. Why would we include our 3rd? |

I think you'd explore both options to get the highest possible combination of picks at the lowest possible cost.
If you trade down then presumably you have another asset or assets you could use along with that 33rd pick (or something else) to try and get another mid-first round selection. Whatever team has the highest pick that you can pry away should be considered.
Not sure how likely it would be for the teams with multiple first round picks to be the trading partners for this because they all finished out of the playoffs and will be fairly desperate to upgrade talent just like the Canucks. Then again maybe Boston (14+20) or Carolina (13+23) has a hankering for someone specific that'd only be available in the top 6. If that's the case then perhaps they'd be willing to sacrifice 10-13 positions on the number two 1st rounder to move up 6 or 7 spots and get the guy they really want with their first pick.

You forget that their new dream-team brain trust is far more progressive and has adjusted expectations in the market. They don't need to wait until he's a household name now. They can just suggest that a guy's going to be great when the rebuild is complete and everyone will be on board. |

SOP for Benning perhaps? Building goodwill wherever he goes. |
