How many bets in a row have you won? - A_SteamingLombardi
let's just say I don't think he'll be betting on the Oilers to make the playoffs next year or any time soon. |

Scoob, I normally agree with you but a lot of dominos need to fall in place for this unicorn-pooping-rainbow plan to actually work. - Beatle_john

He is a poor mans Toews...we have Laine and/ or Matthews, CHi does not - CanuckDon
If the Canucks get #1, wow, Matthews is a game-changer! That completely changes the Canucks future landscape. |

a lot can happen this summer with Chiarelli's potential moves, but they're a ways away from even being a bubble team. |

then we better not draft him, he'll end up sleeping with Demko's girlfriend. |

Big skilled centerman, I like him as a mid-first round pick. Jeff Brown, for the record, never slept with Kirk McLeans wife. |

"And the absences and dislocations and uncertainties eat at a family, to say nothing about the adjustments to an abrupt conclusion to a career. It’s a life that takes a toll. To this day, I get asked about a rumour involving infidelity with a man I’ve never met — Jeff Brown, for those of you who follow hockey lore. And to this day, people still want to ask me: “So what was it really like, being a hockey wife?”

Ok doesn't get it done, thus 0 Cups in 45 years! Drafting is the key to any successful franchise, it shouldn't take 43 years to learn this.
And for the record, Nonis's record was terrible at the draft. 2007, zero, nothing, not one player played a single game, 2006 he did his usual off the board and took Grabner, who's been an ok player, nothing else. 2005 he selected Bourdon, we'll never know but we do know he passed on the higher rated Kopitar, he also picked Raymond. 2004 he admitted they stuck to Burkes draft list, which was actually a good draft. - LeftCoaster
Interesting about 2004, as I didn't know that. IIRC Nonis more or less kept the same mgmt group so I wouldn't be surprised that the draft list stayed the same.
No argument that drafting is key, I just don't agree and still haven't heard and argument from you or others that can quantify how a player available at 23 in one year is the same value as a player taken at 23 another year.
You also conveniently ignore the quality of draft picks Burke had during his tenure to the other GM's.
If Nonis had the 4th in 2004 and and the 2&3 in 2005, or Gillis the same picks in 2008/2009 are we having this conversation?
