Hats of the Islanders. They earned that win. Florida played great and game was similar to game one where Florida had their chances and just couldn't score. I don't mind losing games where Florida played great and honestly they played great in all three loses. Hopefully they can pull a win off in ny. Refs were aweful to both teams and the good news is both teams won't have to see these refs in a few days until next year. |

Taken away goals? The goal in game 3 was offsides by 3 feet. If you think Huberdeau's goal should have counted than you should sign out and never write about hockey again. Unlike you...I've played hockey since I was 8 years old. YOU CANNOT PUSH A GOALIE INTO THE NET AFTER HE MAKES THE INITIAL SAVE TO SCORE A GOAL!!! This column is an embarrassment, as is your knowledge of the sport. But that being said. You write for the correct fan base with all that being taken into consideration. Look forward to your next hatchet job.

Aren't you the same poster who was shamed by fellow Islander fans to take down a post where you bashed the fan base? The Isles are my second choice if they eliminate the Cats, as they were my boyhood team and I lived on the Island. However, "fans" of your nature make it difficult. I have to keep in mind that many of the Islander fans are good people..as I sat next to them in Nassau for years. You're just not one of them. Kinda keeps things in perspective.

FYI. You're a fellow islander fan BUT the "I played hockey" argument has to be one of the lamest things you can say. This is coming from a guy that played hockey |

The officiating has been wildly inconsistent the entire season, and then come the playoffs and the refs seemingly adopt a separate rulebook for calling the games. What was called in the regular season is no longer being called -- fewer slashes, fewer trippings, fewer too-many-men-on-the-ice. It's bewildering and frustrating as a fan.
Separately, as a fan, it's really difficult to view your team's game objectively. In fact, I'd contend that the intensity of one's fandom is inversely related with their ability to see the game entirely as it is. As a Hawks fan with no interest in the outcome of the Panther's series, the "no goal" on Huberdeau sliding into the net was the correct call

Coming from someone that has never played hockey, how do you know The author Dan has never played hockey when the first poster claimed to have actually played hockey. Then who the (frank) knows any of you have played hockey when you all say you have played hockey? This is the internet & I can say (frank) you cause I played hockey!
Now, go & play hockey (that's if you 'really do' play hockey )!! Bunch of (frank)in hockey players!! |

You guys got jobbed! Blatant trip that wasn't called just prior to the Isles scoring the tying goal. That was a joke that they let that go. Make the call and you are likely heading to game 7. |

It's certainly not like they had a couple of overtime periods to score one more goal. Or had only the 3rd ot penalty shot in history the game prior. Refs missed or let things go, or called it incorrectly all series. Bottom line they scored 1 goal in each of the last two games and didn't get it done. Florida played well, but I'm not going to apologize for a series win where we scored in all three overtimes. |

Well, I'm not going into hiding because we lost. It was a great series all BS put aside. I like our future, Dale has done a great job and the ownership group is for real. I can't be too unhappy. Like Gallant said last night, you need to take a loss or a step back to move forward and achieve greatness in this league. He should know. |

That will happen to anyone who faces Crosby, so the rest of these teams should be ready..and don't starting female doging when it happens either. |

Man, I was bummed to see the Panthers get eliminated last night.
Always been a fan of the boys in Florida. Really nice future ahead for you guys, though. A lot of you/talented players. |

there is no doubt the panthers have a talented team. up front and on d you have plenty of young, stellar players who will improve even further in the next year or two. I knew it was going to be a battle and it was. Panthers controlled the play for a lot of the series but when it came down to it, the Isles came through in the situations they had to in order to win the series. well played, you'll be back and stronger next year.

It was a bad non-call, but it's hardly the reason the Panthers didn't force a game 7. |

Yeah OK. Trocek hanging onto Hamonic while he dragged him down the ice for twenty feet not called. Martin tripped in front of the net twice on a scoring opportunity, not called. Tavares's stick broken in half in the slot not called. It was about as evenly called a game as we got in the entire series. Officiating was crap for both teams if you actually think that's why a game seven didn't happen you're hopeless. Islanders were 3-0 in OT and were able to convert on PP's. Panthers not as much and the Isles capitalized on just about every mistake the Panthers made which were very few. Good series and the Panthers have a good team but I knew that going into the series.
Great team and they'll only get better. |
