My issue with Manning is that he can make a great play one shift (the juke move at the blue line, and knocking OV off the puck) and then make a horrible gaffe the next shift (multiple turnovers/failed clears). I think he's been one our our best 4 defensemen this series, but he wouldn't make the cut on most other playoff teams' rosters. He brings some physicality (obviously), but he's not good enough defensively or offensively to be anything more than a 6/7 player. - jmatchett383
Exactly how I see it as well. |

The game is played so fast. Look at the position Wilson put himself in. Sorry no suspension. - flyers2001
Agree, Manning was going for the hit and Wilson dropped his body by a good half foot right before impact. |

I hope no one is. He's never as good as his best game or as bad as his worst games. He's played well this series. Not great, but he's played well. If a 6/7 NHL defenseman is "all" he'll ever be, that's still better than 99.9% of all CHL/NCAA players will ever be. - jmatchett383
And that's what I think he is.
I think he is a solid 6/7 with maybe a 5 swingman type. Can play against more physical teams and comes cheap. I would rather have Manning over guys like Ryan Parent, Lukas Krijack, and maybe even over Lasse Kukkonen |

I still don't know how Schenn missed a wide open Giroux and a wide open net with 30 seconds left. Luckily, it didn't end up with Ovechkin skating the length of the ice and tying the game. |

How great was it to see Wilson get smoked since he is always running around. |

Yeah that was baffling. If nothing else, put it against the wall and eat it. That wild cross-ice pass almost cost them. |

Kukkonen was good until he got injured. I think he and Manning are comparable. |

Looked like a pretty blatant hit to the head and maybe jumping into the hit. Obviously the character of the guy he hits doesn't matter and I know you're just saying that make a point. Here is the hit and a fair questioning of if it will be supplementary discipline: http://www.hockeyfeed.com...th-a-huge-hit-to-the-head - coffee junkie
His skates are on the ice when contact is made. Also:
-the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position by
assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full
body check unavoidable
-the opponent materially changed the position of his body
immediately prior to or simultaneously with the hit in a way
that significantly contributed to the head contact. |

Colin McDonald had a nice game. Almost would rather have him in over Read.
I would guess he is taking Laughtons spot now. |

Yes. I think they will, too. Although the time of day makes it tough for a lot of people. |

Manning's held up well so far at ES.
Team gives up a lot of shots/chances while he's out there, but he's also been helping to generate even more at the other end, so still net-positive. Leads the dmen in scored adjusted SCF60 and CF60 by wide margins. - Tomahawk
This is because he's been stapled to the first line and Gudas, who are our best possession players with Couturier out. |

I cringe when he and Streit are out.
I think he has taken the spot I previously had for Vandevelde. |

His #36 was giving me Rinaldo flashbacks... not cool.

It's all good. I just feel you pull the Neuvirth trigger much sooner |

Mason has played his last game this season. Because if they keep winning, Neuvirth keeps playing. And if by some miracle they end up winning this series. Barring an injury, they will continue to go with the hot hand.
I wish they played the way they did last night in front of Mason. - MBFlyerfan
Mason was a big reason we got to the dance, and I blame our epically bad PP for having us down 0-3 more than Mase.
That being said, it seems like all year, the team played better with neuvy in goal. No idea why. |

I was sitting on my carpet, not wearing shows with my cell phone upstairs when Ghost scored last night (previously, I was on my couch, wearing shoes, with my cell phone in my pocket). I needed to go outside, and had to literally say out loud to myself, "It doesn't matter, you have no effect on the game." |
