Id say Miller plays out his last year in Van and then hangs up his oversized gear and calls it a career - (an admirable one at that)
Heres the real question - how long do we re-sign Marksy given Demko is waiting in the wings.....??? - Brooks_Light
You'd have to see Demko's progression, but the bigger question is that if Markstrom sees whats happening, how does he feel about signing short term in Van knowing they want Demko to be #1 soon vs going into free agency and taking a longer term deal there. His next contract should take him through his prime and does he just want to be a placeholder
5th Center, maybe he plays in Utica and starts learning wing. We don't need two 2nd line centers and Bo is the one to keep. JM is not a 1C. Not a 4C. So he's someone else's future 2 or 3 C
1 full year as starting goalie in Utica
1 year as backup to Markstrom on Canucks
1 year as 1A and 1B with Demko replacing Markstrom after an injury and taking us to the finals where Thatcher scores the OT cup winner. The fans will still riot.

Miller's got to go. What's the point?
Does he provide stability in goaltending? No.
Does he come across as a positive role model in the room, a real team player? No.
Does he have a future with the canucks, will he be there when they eventually become competitive? No.
Does his departure represent another huge hole in the lineup that can't be filled with others, whether in the system, trade, or free agency? No.
Is he overpaid for the role he plays? Yes.
Does his presence restrict other players from developing? Yes
Is his age an issue and will injuries be inevitable? Yes
Is his role on the canucks redundant? Yes.

Man, this site sucks. Why isn't anyone criticizing Benning? - bazz
I can see the criticism coming for the future goalie controversy/asset management. Benning went short term on Markstrom, so that he can had time to see if Mark would pan out (which was good, if he sucked then we cut him loose and no biggie) but it seems like he is going to be able to be a starter and the timing leaves him with UFA instead of RFA status. One would hope Demko is ready but thats a stretch, and if he's close, why would Markstrom sign back short term? Whatever James Reimer gets this offseason is likely what Markstrom targets for his own salary, and if he has the Free Agency card to play, he might leverage it for a NTC of some sort... Boom handcuffed with a goalie controversy
Is it too early to start this??? (I say this all mostly tongue in cheek... )
I was just going through the Cream / Blind Faith memories yesterday. Love those two groups. Superbands #1 and #2. Ginger Baker best drummer ever. Eric Clapton best blues/rock guitarist ever.
That concert was Blind Faith's first and it drew 100,000 people.

If the sky isn't falling than Canuck fans aren't happy.
