I was against going for Drouin at the deadline, but I think some guys are being too harsh on the kid. If an opportunity comes to bring in a player of his calibre without sacrificing a core player then I say you absolutely go for it.
1.
Drouin followed some bad advice from his overarching parents, he's still a kid and he made a mistake (if he could do it over again I bet he sucks it up and plays his ass off in the AHL).
2.
When reports of his trade request came out, not one player in the Tampa room (including Stamkos) was aware that he had gone to Stevie. In fact, many of the players in the room were completely surprised by the request saying that any issues he had with the organization had not found its way into the locker room at all. So I don't think it's fair to label the kid a "cancer".
Did he pull a punk move? Absolutely. Should he be written off/punished the rest of his career? Hell no! If we can somehow bring in an elite prospect like Drouin for pennies on the dollar then I'd be more than happy to have him on the team. - Saskabush
See that's the problem..... Everyone keeps thinking we can just get him for nothing
I would also like Hamonic without giving anything of significance....why not mcdavid too? Sorry, but yzerman isn't going to trade him for pennies on the dollar or spare parts

The original conversation was if we could get him for our 1st (at 8th overall I believe) would you do it? Many on here said no (frank)in way! I think we'd be stupid not to take a chance on him if that (plus maybe a prospect/colborne type player) were the asking price.
If Stevie thinks he could get one of our core young players for Drouin, then of course I'd tell him to go fist himself. But I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a little less than market value for the kid.
It all depends on what Tampa does with Stamkos. They resign him, then maybe they decide to trade Drouin for futures/bottom 6 help (they may also want to shed Bishops salary which could help bring in a replacement for Drouin). |

And Yzerman is in no position to lose him for pennies on the dollar. He could potentially lose Stamkos for no pennies. Why lose more on Drouin? Yakupov might be available for pennies on the dollar, Drouin is not. He is still signed to a team friendly hit and has years of RFA that make him under team control.
My opinion, he's a bolt next year. They talk again towards the deadline and if he's still not happy in Florida Stevie will try to accommodate. |

The site and design were smoke and mirrors. Flames dont want to go there, city doesnt want to go there, but the stampede committee are being cock blocks when it comes to the selling of land for a new arena next to the saddledome.
This is their Plan B and had to show something. I know people from the architecture firm that is working on the project. The CalgaryNEXT site is not their main focus in developing this scheme |

I sat on a bunch of community consultation meetings a couple of years back looking at Area Structure Plans and the West village re-development was a non discussion point. It was like the red-headed step child (waits for leon...) no one wants to invite. I heard that the creosote contamination is pretty bad still. You know when you get a leak behind the wall and if you open it up, it'll be a poop show to remediate and repair, ya thats the next site |
