I think Hextall has to bear some of the blame for this debacle as well. He knew this team was gonna struggle to make it to the playoffs, and that they'd be gassed if they did made it, only to go up against the Caps (who looked primed to make it to the ECF's).

Yet he gave them no help at all, despite extra picks in this year's draft as well as next year's. Despite an abundance of quality prospects, many at the same position -D-. He knew they were outgunned and had virtually no depth.

What kind of message does it send to a team when they know the organization has plenty of assets to use yet does nothing with them? Look at every other team in the playoffs, they loaded up to get ready for the big push. The Flyers were fed to the lions with a butter knife for defense and told to fend for themselves. Hexy didn't need to mortgage the future, but any help he could have given them would have brought some new energy to the group.

By doing nothing, he essentially told them "you're on your own". That's some cold blooded sh!t to say to a team that played their guts out all season.

just saying. the opposite side of this coin is noteworthy as well. how many people on here wouldve liked a deal of next years first, travis sanheim, and nick cousins for say, andrew ladd right about now?

All I can say is have patience. This is what Hextall is trying to do. You do not win in the NHL anymore with blockbuster trades, or even smaller trades you talk about to bolster a lineup close to the playoffs. It took the Flyers 81 games to squeak into the playoffs this year, its not like they were missing that one piece to put them over the top. Hextall isn't sitting on his hands.

It's a message saying that the team has a plan and it's not going to give up future assets to add more third pair defensemen or third line wingers just to get to game six of the first round instead of game four.

Giroux was great tonight!!! I wanna hear all the Giroux lovers defend this turd after tonight! I've said it all year he is the most over-rated player in the league! He is no superstar, hasn't scored in the month of April! Oh but he does so much else on the ice...lol. Great captain really taking charge! The future looks good but this turd & his superstar salary 8.7 million has to go! He isn't gonna get better only worse

Game 3 is the game where you make adjustments. Line changes, roster changes. Starting Neuvirth never happened. Medvedev in for Manning never happened. Changing up lines, pairs and special teams never happened. I don't care what Hak chooses to do nothing because it will be too little, too late.

Disgusting.

Hope Orpik is ok. Certainly didn't look like a hit that should have rattled his head the way it did. I thought he had a shoulder problem until they showed that deer in the headlights look on his face... Not good, and I wish him the best.

Was at the travesty of a game tonight. Few things.

1.) The ceremony for Snider was great. Got the message across without running too long; fans seemed real appreciative. The moment of silence had a few idiots yelling during it. I'll never understand. Do you really think that your "F this team" or "Win it for Ed" is what peaople want to hear? I think everyone would appreciate it much more if you adhered to the moment of silence; you're not bigger than the moment.

2.) The bracelet light show was pretty cool. I'm sure kids are much more appreciative of it, but it definitely added some entertainment value. But a few people on here are stating that the bracelets were in remembrance of Snider. I may have missed a press release or something, but those didn't seem to be related to Snider. They weren't used during his ceremony. They were used during pre-game show (before the ceremony), right before the 3rd period started, and random times when music would play (and they also flashed blue during the Peco Powerplay!). It doesn't justify fan's throwing them on the ice, but just stating that these weren't related to the Snider remembrance. Which leads me to #3

3.) People throwing the bracelets on the ice were embarrassing. Pitiful. There were at least 100-200 bracelets thrown on the ice. Lou Nolan addressed the crowd, trying to urge the word Class a few times. To no avail, they kept coming down and Nolan definitely said something to the effect of "Nice Job. The Caps are now going on a 2-minute powerplay". For some reason, the fans ate that up and patted themselves on the back. Which leds me to #4.

4.) It seems like the majority (or vocal minority) of those at the game are 21-25 year old bros who can't hold their liquor. I'm only 29, so I'm not harkening back to the 80's or 70's, as I have no frame of reference. But everyone just wants to start the next chant with a curse word mixed in. Every penalty called against the Flyers is just unimaginably wrong. I remember going to a bunch of games in the 2010 run and I loved the atmosphere. Not so much this time around.

5.) What to say that hasn't been said. This team can't compete with the Caps. Mason was pretty frustrating; I'm completely up for starting Neuvirth just to get something going. Scoring two goals in three games is hilarious. Going 0-infinity on the powerplay is also hilarious.

Anyway, here's to hoping they can pull out a win in game 4 and show the young guys what effort looks like in a playoff series.

Again, I'm Sorry, who are you?

The Red Wings made these exact changes in their line up last night by switching things up in net and changing up what might be considered their 6th defensemen.

You are aware the Washington capitals are the hands down favourites to win the Cup, right? What world do you live in if you though G was gonna single handedly take over?

I am aware. Washington hands down is a much better team. Detroit is playing a Tampa team without Stamkos & aren't anywhere near as good as Washington. Not saying G has to win the series alone but no points in 3 games?...this is acceptable from a supposed "superstar" captain making top 10 money? People need to wake up and realize he is over-rated on on the down side of his career.

He has 61 points in 60 playoff games, when there's not much in the way of secondary scoring it's a lot easier to shut him down.

That said, he's not the greatest skater but he usually finds a way to get around that.

Philly has a looooong way to go before they hit Edmontons level of embarrassing.. 4 first overall picks in 6 years to be exact.

Yea 61 points in 60 games...remember he wasn't a top line center for most of those games. His numbers will drop as we are seeing before our eyes because he is playing against better players. Power play 0-12 and a 5-3 mixed in and still no points....excuses now.

I fail to see how Edmonton's level of suck somehow makes it ok for your team to suck this hard.
