Here let me get my kneeling pad so my points stop going over your head, the point is it's been Giroux's team since carter and richards left town, almost 5 years ago which incase you missed it, is the time frame this teamis supposed to be good again but we were told this already 5 years ago.

My wife went to grab a few things from the grocery store with my buddies wife one night.

My buddy and I were shooting the poop, drinking and just watching a hockey game. An hour and 15 minutes goes by.. they still arent home. So I call my wife and she answers the phone by saying "Please dont kill me."

She some how ended up driving up on to the parking lot divider strips with the bushes and grass and all. Got the Elantra stuck on it, resting on the frame..

I think it's really a lack of due diligence and inability to gauge talent objectively. They, the flyers front office like the fans over value their players.
- JoeRussomanno

Team is still quite away from being a legit cup contender. Lots of holes to fill. Even if Provorov is a # 1, and Sanheim a # 2 dmen, there will be growing pains. Headed in the right direction I believe, but nothing is promised.

Personally I am going to withhold judgement on that until I see how he adjusts next season to the extra attention he will be receiving, like he did the latter part of this season.

I would be completely happy with him as the second pair anchor and PP go to guy.

- MBFlyerfan

I don't know what he will be. It's all conjecture. I just know that his instincts in all 3 zones are phenomenal, and I think there is more there than sheltered PP guy.

He's spent the second half of his year adjusting, and did marvelously until the tail end. I imagine he's tired playing his first full year of pro hockey. Going from 40 college games to a missed year to 80 pro games is tough. Especially for a slighter guy. It also hasn't been a coincidence his points have dried up when the top line has hit a gigantic wall, especially on the PP. And that's not just on him. Plus he's been forced to play a lot more defense and less offense since being paired with his present partner. I just think when every coach is talking about him and has already game planned around him, he already has been forced to adjust. What more can they do?

im not upset that we are getting a beat down, i didn't expect to make playoffs...we road ghosts hot streak all year and when it fizzled we fizzled....i agree with some its time to move on from giroux, he is a good player but just think we can get more back in trade then what he is bringing to the team...with that being said if giroux does get moved i think jake needs to go also.

Our signals ate seriously crossed... Homer went out and got on this "youth movement" thing back in 2011... We brought in a ton pf young players many of which are on the team. Hell the consensus on this very thread was "don't get your hopes up just let the kids play blah blah blah"... Well the kids have been playing and in 4 years have only managed to win a single playoff series missing the playoffs twice. The one series they did win, against Pittsburgh exhibited some of the worst goaltending ever. Now unlike flyers teams of the past who have been hindered by medipcre goaltending this one, with exception of the last two games has had good goaltending. At what point do you look amd say geez two of pur guys getting 8 mill a year each and they can't even get a pp goal? Hurt and tiredare excuses for clubs that accept losing. These guys aren't worth what they're getting paid, they don't get the job done and are not worthy to be faces of a franchise, they, like their predecessors are guys that need to play behind real superstars.
- JoeRussomanno

And that youth movement went to the playoffs and won a series...you are misguided in your direction of blame for the playoff futility. how can you seriously look at everything that has unfolded since then and try to stake the blame on the few core players that have actually produced and done something at an above average rate. I dont get it one bit. Who cares if they had a good team with bad goaltending or a bad team with good goaltending. It all adds up to something and the result hasnt been great. The entire team needs to develop together which is what is happening now, instead of trading for Pavel Kubina at a stupid chance to win a playoff game.

You are so biased in your thinking. The previous teams which had Carter and Richards did it WITH THE HELP of Giroux and the "younger players" Please tell me who is helping Giroux and Voracek now? Seriously? For two years there was absolutely ZERO secondary scoring. They have been carrying this team out of the cellar along with Mason for years now and you cant appreciate that. You need to look past the fact that they "havent won a series since 2012" because two players cannot win you a playoff series.

In that same time frame the Penguins have won 3 series and 0 cups...with 2 of the best players in the world getting paid MORE than G and Jake (a lot more over that time) and an elite defenseman. People need to stop watching a hockey game and then venting about every single thing they come up with in their head

Im talking about the "Its Giroux's team" bit.

Giroux is one guy on an 18 man team. He can only do so much. The patience part of it is getting the right players, drafting the right players, and signing the right players.

So lets break it down. Even with a shotty defense this year (and missing probably our best all around d-man for most of the year) we managed to cut our GAA down considerably. We were much more disiciplined.

Even with Couts, Del Zotto, Jake, Streit and the goalies all missing time.. we still made the playoffs, when nobody thought we would.

We saw contributions from a variety of guys in different roles. Schenn and Couts both took the next step, especially after the Christmas break.

We are still a handful of pieces away from being a legitimate playoff team. But those pieces seem to be coming up soon from within the Org., and thats the way good teams do it.

Quickly fading? Simmonds just had a 30 goal season. Voracek is a year removed from leading the Art Ross race for 3/4 of the season. Giroux, who is taking a lot of maintenance days (AKA playing through something that will only be revealed after the playoff run ends), is two seasons removed from being a Hart Trophy finalist and is still in his prime at 28.
- bmeltzer

We have a solid core but unfortunately we have very little outside of Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Schenn, Couturier, Mason and Gostisbehere. When matching up next a well balanced team like in Cap, our lack of depth couldn't be more evident.

Going back to Bill's point that I wanted to allude to earlier today but work has been busy all day. In our run just to earn a playoff spot, G has taken a beating starting from Subban' s cheap hit and on from another few games where he ended up being down for awhile. I don't know who that goof but was who was yelling from the roof tops that he has always known G was overrated, that kid has missed the point. The Philadelphia Flyers do not get to the playoffs without Claude Giroux.

Work like hell to move these big contracts for high picks. Be "patient" amd wait for the "right" players to become available. Because contrary to populat belief they do become available. For (frank)s sake stop signing guys like amac and streit to big deals. Sorry but this team has way too many big money contracts to be this mediocre.

No it is clear that people just want to see people signed to large contracts score goals and that is all that matters....team defense counts for nothing if you cant score goals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why does there need to be "secondary scoring" for giroux to score when he's on the ice? He's paid to be a dominant player but he isn't and that's a problem, don't know why this is so hard to grasp. The pplwho put together team canada think likewise.
