His actions after the play lead me to believe it was totally accidental. he seemed concerned about Orlov. that said, it was very careless and would understand him being suspended for game 4.
- nastyflyergirl

I watched it about 10 times. It was brutal, but I think his initial intended action was to follow Orlov all the way into the boards and rub him out..

Orlov looked shaky all game long. Anytime a player went to finish a check on him he turned the puck over or just chipped it out. He was the one d-man I wanted them to keep pressuring.

On that play though, it looked to me like he saw VDV coming and he definitely put on the breaks. Bellemare hit him from behind, not out of malice, but more as a reactionary response. He wasnt going to stop fast enough and he just chipped him a bit. Reminded me- sort of- of the Randy Jones on Bergeron hit.

Its a completely unfortunate event, and Bellemare will be punished accordingly.

The Wilson hit on MacDonald was much more malicious, but not nearly as devastating.

Our ticket agreement says they have the right to revoke our tickets and ban anyone caught doing so. I questioned it further when I was talking with my rep to get locked in for next year (changed from partial to full season) and he stated they recommend using StubHub to sell any unwanted tickets if you want to sell them since StubHub informs the Flyers of seats that were sold.

I only mentioned those two incidents in Toronto earlier because they stuck in my head. I mean who brings waffles to a hockey game???? And I damn sure ain't throwing a jersey I paid my hard earned money to purchase.

Fantastic. They should back up their words with actions now.

Speaking of refs. Now that we know how often line calls are wrong, how about we dispense with replays and acknowledge it's a crap shoot?

- bodiva88

I can get behind that. The game is played by humans and refereed by humans. Replay not needed.

If you read further, it also says StubHub informs the Flyers or which seats were sold. But according to you, that doesn't matter at all, even if they can prove without a doubt that they weren't in those seats, they should have them revoked immediately.

it blows my mind people are saying they should have traded assets to pick up a player or two (like that would have made a difference) and they should blow up the team. a week ago we were playing with house money and now because they are about to lose to a team most of us expected to lose to the sky is falling. My god.

you simply are not going to win a 7 game series without depth. did I expect better than being outscored 13-2? absolutely. but I didn't expect to win. I'm glad they made it and the players are getting the experience and I hope the ass kicking is in their guts all summer long. I believe in the direction Hextall is taking the organization. For once I feel like we have a GM with a real plan who isn't interested in just patch working things.

Would like new assistant coaches next season - at least for both special teams.
Not a fan of having both of Schultz and Streit back either. Schultz at least doesn't cost as much as Streit and he blocks shots but Streit to me is the worst skater on the team.

Michael Jesus Neuvirth

Now you're just being silly.

I would give him the game four start though. I'd tell Mason, it's not you, it's them, while pointing to the rest of the team.

He isn't getting $6M from the Flyers and he isn't getting the Flyers a top 10 pick like Schneider. The market for goalies has been really weak. I'm not even sure a team trades a late 1st rounder for 1 year of Mason.
- PhillySportsGuy

I am just saying look at the goalies. Mason is making about 4.5 I believe. This is probably the last big deal. And you say the market is weak. He is probably going to be looking in the 6 range.

I didn't mind Streit the last 2 years because, while he's not a great skater/defender, his offensive contributions were noticeable (passing and shooting). This year, he handles the puck like a hand grenade and just isn't producing. He seems 100% lost out there.

I agree. I think the passive box is going the way of the Rosehill. It seems like the top PK teams are aggressive and pressure you, instead of letting a team as talented as the Caps move the puck freely.
- jmatchett383

Last night was the absolute worse. I mean, in the previous games I thought being out of position was what killed them more so than being passive. Like the OV goal in game 2. but my god, what the hell was that last night? they literally stayed in a box and didn't move at all. all the caps did was give it different looks. OV on a few occasions circled across the middle, to the blue line then back in his regular spot. Meanwhile the Flyers literally didn't move. I was shaking my head.

How different is this series with Coots?

What about with Coots and MDZ?

Not making excuses, just curious if people think those two play a pivotal role. I don't think having Coots on the PK help much, maybe take away 1 or 2 goals.

MDZ would help limit the other guys' minutes. Maybe MDZ on the PP could generate some more opportunities, although no one is really knocking PP2 to begin with.

I dunno, I think this Flyers' team at full strength would still be in the same hole. The Flyers are just gassed. I mean, in all 3 games; they've looked strong in Period 1 and serviceable in Period 2. It's the third where you can see that they're skating through quicksand.

Lastly, did we has over Trotz's comments? Bulletin board material?

“I just thought it wasn’t good for the game. Plain and simple,” Caps coach Barry Trotz said after the game. “We were on national television. I don’t think it displays our game very well. You never want to see that. That’s … it is what it is. I really don’t have any comment on it. Anything good, anyways.”

“We pulled the game away and they weren’t interested in playing anymore,” Trotz continued. “And so we ended up on the power play for the last seven or eight minutes.”

- steelydan

With Coots and MDZ the PK has a fighting chance and the Caps would actually have to use their extra gear to win. Right now they are exploiting our PK very easily. A ton of skill on one side and heart but lack of skill on the other.

Caps still win but their PP would not be 40+% or whatever it is now.

I don't think Trotz's comments are that far off base

I think the Flyers could pull it together and win game 4, but I'm more expecting a sweep at this point.

Maybe they just run Neuvirth and Mason next season and whoever plays better stays and the other one is moved at the draft?

- J35Bacher

That's how I'd handle it. I expect they'll be playoff bound next season so moving one at the trade deadline probably isn't going to be an option.

Although as a guy with no history, I doubt it rolls past tomorrow. Is it in person hearing? Or phone. The "faces a lengthy suspension" headlines seems a bit over the top.

He doesn't shoot anymore. He seems to read the game slower. Just reminds me of Kimmo at the end.

Also what happened to Read? He went from reliable two way player to someone who does absolutely nothing and looks like he has lost 3 steps.

Yeah...or they had work/family matters/medical issues/etc. (you know, stuff that really matters in real life) that prevented them from attending a sporting event.

there is one goalie that does kind of interest me that's a UFA this offseason.

James Reimer

I thought he played well behind a bad team in Toronto and was surprised it was him moved and not Bernier.

Yes, because people on StubHub and other ticket sales sites are all friends.

*doorbell rings*

Scoob: "Who the hell are you?"

Random Dude: "I hear you invited Jim over, and I don't know him at all but overheard him saying at work he couldn't make it, so I decided to come over instead even though he doesn't know me."

Scoob: "Cool, come on in."

*Random Dude pisses on your floor
