Really, I thought they were a lot better.

NFL and MLS have done very well lately. SeaHawks couldn't draw flies at the Kingdome, and winning has helped them out a lot recently.

Mariners when winning had fans, but now the stadium is empty unless the Jays are in town. Sonics when winning had fans, but the losing years they had a half full (or empty) arena.

Mariners because half the people cross the border to go to them. Remember the super sonics?

A team in Seattle would be awesome. Short trip would cut down on travel for the Canucks a lot.

As a massive Bue Jays fan, I would love a Team in Seattle. But holy shyt do the hotels jack up the rates when they know were coming down to watch a sporting event.

Over a thousand dollars for my dad and I to sleep in shytiest piece of trash in Seattle for the Jays last year.

my love for baseball and hockey would have me bankrupt if Seattle got a hockey team.

He plays the matchup game well, and seems to have the team playing above their actual level by deploying a simplified gameplan (not unlike LA's) of dump and chase/sound neutral zone d. He also seems to have a knack for finding the guys in a given game that are going to produce. On top of that the special teams are very effective. I thinkhe would be a great replacement or hire as an assistant, not sure if we'll be able to keep him though.

sounds good then. Definite upgrade for us with that alone.

This isn't true at all, regarding the Mariners. Last year I went to a Dogers, Athletics and Rockies series....every time there was 30 some thousand fans in the stands. It wasn't empty at all.

Yay lets water down the league even more.
- thundachunk

It's depressing hey?

Top 10 teams struggle to get 4 solid lines even now imagine with more needless franchises.

The Middle 10 teams struggle for 3 solid lines and that's a stretch. Most middle 10 teams have 2-3 decent Dmen that's about it. Maybe a bonafide no 1 goalie.

Bottom 10 clubs are what they are. Struggle to put together 2 decent lines on the best of nights and MAYBE a top D pairing. None of which really have no 1 goaltending.

So let's add 2 more clubs?

League should be thinking relocation…not expansion.

I just looked. Dodgers and Rockies hosted the Mariners last year, so you are counting attendance figures from the Mariners on the road.

I'm sure it was Dogers, A's and Rockies but whatever....there was around 30k people there the three series we went to.

Edit: just went and looked at our pictures, it was Arizona, Oakland and Colorado.

I know they're not current at the top but two years ago Toronto's average was just over 29k - it's a fickle game with 162 matches. People attend to watch winning teams or A winning team.

They average 21-24k a night. That's half full...

They had a spike after signing a few big name players, but has dwindled hard since.
They only support winning teams in Seattle, which is true of many cities.

Yup people support a winner, the causal nature baseball with 162 games says it's hard to get people out to an outdoor stadium in rainy cool weather.

Like I said Toronto averaged 29 thousand two years ago...winning matters with 80 home games.

After spending a week in Seattle last year during the first round of NHL playoffs I'm nor sure NHL would fly there. Too much to spend money on with the NFL and MLB and they will be vying for NBA again. Couldn't find NHL playoffs at any pubs we went to had to ask to turn the tv's and the hotel tv's had all 4 ESPN channels not one channel for hockey. Not sure it would work there...
