Summary please? Missed a few hours - YuenglingJagr
Goalie change solves momentum problems.
Manning is secretly sabotaging the series by taking bad penalties.
Flyers can't score, only can on the power play (where they are actually 0-8 in the series)
Medvedev solves penalty issues, scoring issues, and at this rate goalie issues.
The end.... |

Dunno about anyone else, but to me Raffl is a 3rd liner at best. - MikesPillBottle
I actually think a lot people believe this. He is a good 3rd liner who can play up and down the lineup. |

No! That's not good enough! You must replace the goalie who helped get our asses into the playoffs by playing every single meaningful game down the stretch! - AllInForFlyers
Mason had a bad moment. It can happen to anyone. You knew there would be dramatic overreaction to that. Didn't love the 4th goal he allowed in game 2, but the horse was out of the barn at that point. Mason isn't the problem at all. |

It's been brought up before to try Ghost on the right wall, across from Giroux to see if that works on the PP. I'm not a fan of it, but those 2 are just getting suffocated on the PP right now, I'd spread them out and put Voracek down there; as long as he's just dishing, not dancing through 3 guys. - jmatchett383
Yeah, I think separating G and Ghost on the 1st unit would be the better option, so the Caps can't focus on just shutting that side down. Jake has been trying to do too much, that Simmonds reverse pass and the Hartnell special from the slot isn't working for Schenn, so they need to try something else. |

team can't score 5 on 5 that's why they're going to get the brooms
Time to trade Giroux, Voracek, and Simmonds for prospects that go along with Provorov. - Winning
Forwards typically develop faster so by the time Provorov is ready to go we should (if the draft is kind) have young guns coming into the lineup. |

12 Michael Raffl - 10 Brayden Schenn - 89 Sam Gagner
21 Scott Laughton - 52 Nick Cousins - 24 Matt Read
76 Chris VandeVelde - 78 Pierre-รdouard Bellemare - 25 Ryan White
Who the hell is scoring out of those players besides Brayden Schenn - Winning
Why is anybody surprised about this now? It's been this way for 82 games!
We all know they need at least three more pieces. With Couturier out, the bottom nine isn't going to start scoring more than they have all season.
It's OK to acknowledge that sometimes, you don't have the depth. Next year at this time, if you don't have it, then we can start female doging. But damn, people! This has been a house-money run for months -- they're not going to be any different now.
I totally disagree that when you hit the playoffs, somebody sprinkles magical pixie dust and all of a sudden, Matt Read turns into Brett Hull -- that's ridiculous. If it happens, great, but it's more likely than not that the players are who we thought they were.
Enjoy the games, hope they continue to adhere to the system, gain experience, and be excited about what this team is going to be

They just need depth those bottom three lines they're rolling don't have to be defended heavily. Hopefully Hakstol can get Giroux away from whoever is defending him the first two games. |

Funny thing is no one had said Mason is the problem on here.
I only suggested change to a goalie who also played well for this team and maybe some momentum, using the Redwings as example.

I don't think it crazy to suggest a change. I would just leave Mason in. He's been a horse over the last month of the season. Big reason why the Flyers made the playoffs. I wouldn't pull the plug on him. |

At this point, yeah -- sometimes you just have to acknowledge where you are.
Some people are talking like we're the Blues or Pens, who are built to win now.
Our coach was in freaking North Dakota at this time last year.
Our best defenseman is a rookie. Our second-best defenseman is 38 years old and declining, or a bruising defensive defenseman, take your pick.
Our fourth line is a guy from France, a waiver pickup from the worst franchise in hockey over the last decade and Ryan White.
Our third line is two rookies and a former college free agent.
I am happy as hell this team made the playoffs. It's one of the biggest accomplishments I've seen of late, because they play hard, adhere to the system, and the rookie defenseman was phenomenal.
Why does it always have to be misery when you don't win? Sometimes, there is no miracle -- they are giving the requisite effort to win, they haven't lost a home game yet.
It's not always pitchforks and public executions |
