Scored on an awful PK play on a seeing eye point shot. Then that lucky pass/probable bank in attempt from Backstrom to Ovi. Otherwise I didn't see any dangerous plays. Flyers had a ton of crash the net scramble plays on loose pucks. Caps generated zero second chance plays. - Mononoke

I've been insanely critical the last 4 periods, but this period was their best. 5-3 or not, they at least got some real chances on Holtby.
They need to start being smart in the offensive zone. NZ and DZ have been solid. But there are plays where they rip a shot from the half wall that wouldn't go in against me ffs. Look up, look for a seam, get holtby moving, staND THE (frank) IN FRONT OF HIM, and get a one timer through. That's how you get goals in the playoffs, and that's how they're going to score.

Dude, chill. The Flyers are playing with house money right now. Yes, it would be great if they would win the series, even greater if they did the Cinderella Story crap and won the Cup for Mr. Snider. Its not likely.
Cheer for the boys, and if it doesnt happen... it doesnt happen. I'm just glad they're not laying down. They're playing hard. They're not as talented as the Caps, but they don't look like they don't belong.

To me the caps started to take over as that period went on.
Shot totals all you want. The 5 the caps took were of much higher quality. Flyers being kept to the outside. - flyer_nutter
Didn't get that impression but I do agree the shot selection has to get better. If the want to take shots from poor angles, I'd like to see more players in the crease ready to pick up a dirty goal. |

War On Ice categorized the Flyers with 12 high danger shots. Just bad luck and good goaltending. If they can keep this pace, I like their chances. |

I do like how they are using Schenn in a more noticeable role on the PP. I mentioned that yesterday. Double screen is fine at times, moving in and out of it, but they use it permanently and take away 2 people who can move the puck around. Seems Schenn is in Jake's spot and Jake is in his old spot but shifted nearer the goal line. Caps didn't know what to do. Ghost needs to stop missing his shots though. |

One thing that poor angle shots could cause are meaty rebounds. But these guys just haven't been crashing Holtby |

I know it's early but that could be game with how Holtby is playing.
You can't make mistakes against this team, the Flyers aren't good enough to make mistakes against the Caps they take a dumb penalty and just like that you're down. Meanwhile the Flyers PP shoots blanks. - Yosimar89

That was the Flyers team who was one of the best teams in the NHL the last 6-8 weeks. Quick and aggressive in all zones.

Schenn has a solid hard shot. Being a part of a double screen really limits him. |

If they keep playing they way they started this game and end up losing it would be even more discouraging than the 1st game. In the first game they flat out got outplayed and at least i could tell myself they just weren't ready.
In this game they started out skating like maniacs and still it wasn't enough to get anything out of it. |
