If Benning signs the goalie from PG then Demko is available at the draft for sure.
If the Oilers don't end up with the top pick, would they send their 2nd or third or fourth overall pick to us in exchange for Demko? I would do it even if the Oilers wanted our 2nd rounder thrown in too. That would be our way of landing the two Finns. - Itsjustarash
No one is giving up a 1st or 2nd round pick for Demko, they have no idea what his plans are. |

shhhh, dont tell people that. Didn't you know that sign+trade is still a significant tactic to being a GM |

You and me both. Joking aside I would take CHychurn or however the hell you spell his name. I am not sold on the Sergochev kid. |

point was that I said i thought laine was the best player of the 3 and got laughed at for it....now he's projected as the #1 .....
So for those that felt it was arrogant its just my laughing back at those who were quick to laugh 1st. Nothing more.
Perhaps it should have been worded as.....so dont be quick to make assumptions and laugh at stuff, it might come back on you and make YOU look bad - SMBDragon
It's one blogger's draft board dude, Matthews is still the favorite to go number one in virtually every other media source except McKeen's. I don't remember anyone laughing at you, I remember people saying things like 1C is ore important than wing and he's been the favorite all year. Both of those things are still true. |

So essentially what you are throwing out there is:
Oilers: 1st round pick (#2-4 overall) For Canucks: Demko plus Canucks 2nd (33 overall)? - Codes1087
Would it work? I sure hope so. |

If Demko won't sign with the Canucks and opts to go back to college which could make him a free agent after this year, why would the Oilers offer their first round pick for him. If Demko wants to be a free agent, why would he sign with the Oilers now or next summer? |

I would be down in a heartbeat to do that if we landed 3rd overall, TOR landed 1st, and EDM landed 2nd, as I think a Laine/PJ package would be ridiculously exciting. |

For sh1ts and giggles, let's say he signs with us. Is he good enough to land us a pick in the 2-4 range? Iv'e only seen him play on tv twice and lost both times. So my opinion is worthless. |

My stance like a few others on here is , I like Laine more than Mathews but i would never be the GM who did not draft Mathews - VANTEL
This exactly. Only way I wouldn't pick mathews is if somehow by moving my first and doing more wheeling and dealing I could pick 2 and 3 |

I'd take both over Joulevi - classic321
Who are we kidding both got in the top 10.
1. Mathews
2. Laine
3. Puljarvjioef (PJ)
4. Churchrun
5. Sergochev
Tkachuk falls out of the top 5. After the top 3 it isn't so clear and I think it comes down to who needs quality defence. Everyone is looking for a future #1 D. These 2 are tops thats why I have them in my top 5. |

Depends by what you mean by this year.
This year meaning the season that just passed, or this year meaning the coming up season.

He's going to sign anyway. Vancouver is a very ideal place to start your career. Unless you're a goalie. |

If we dont draft #1 and end up 2-3 then that depends on what happens with Ebs...if he gets shipped out in a package for Hamonic then I see us taking Laine or Puljujärvi to slot in as McDavids wing for years to come...I think the only way we do trade the pick is for a top 4 RD because thats the area we need the most help in
