It's not a freak out crowd. Those stats sugar coat. We had a four year run where we were very good. If you take the last 5 years you will see that we never made it past the first round. We have 5 playoff wins in the five years and missed the playoff twice.
You would find bad numbers if you looked at the last 15 years.
The Canucks had a four year stretch where it was the best Canucks hockey. Hanging on to thoses years would be like a certain fan the won back in 67.
The future is bright but we need to move on from 2011 - VANTEL
The point of the article, Vancouver Sun, is we now have a bad team, the past few years they've had an ok team and before that the Canucks had a very good team. It's been awhile since they've been bad.
Last years team had 101 points, that's a pretty good team! Whether you say so or not, yes they went out in the first round, so did the Blues and other good teams....doesn't automatically equate to a bad team because you lose in the first round. |

Yep, all those close OT loses as well. If those turned out to be wins we would have made the final Wildcard spot.
That and the injuries killed this team.
I highly doubt the team is anywhere near as bad as many make it out to be.
A healthy team next year, perhaps with a top 3 pick on the roster, some decent UFA signings and another year of 'growth' among the kids and we could be right back at it.
Nowhere near a contender but i believe the team will be competitive at the very least. - Whiskey-Tango
That's reasonable.

Well said…if people are going to post arrogantly over and over then they will eventually be subject to the scrutiny of the thread. Actions have consequences. - LordHumungous
This.
I hope he comes back and has a laugh at himself. It was a funny situation especially with the Vantel angle.

You nailed it. Out of 30 teams only 16 make the playoffs and only 8 advance to the 2nd round. If only 8 teams in the league are considered good... then this league should fold.

This team, if healthy, next year will be competitive. Not a contender. But injuries were awful for this team this year.
A high draft pick, A healthy team. I expect better results.
Few signings, Trades. This could be a good team next year.
But like i said not a contender |

Ferraro was just on TSN 1040 and said the same thing, "man three really good Western Conference teams are going home after the first round"
These are some pretty damn good teams, and three of them are going home in a week or so.

As Mr Tango and Booner pointed out we were a bubble team up to the 9 game dive. We are getting rid of some old guys and non effective guys this summer.
Benning has started to address scoring and D and the summer is just beginning. I don't believe this team will be as bad next year.
PS. I believe Vey will be gone and I am going to Canadian Tire around noon to pay off our bet. |

If the Sedins have a good year and Bo Sven JV and Etem play like they did in the stretch I can see us around 8-12 |

Benning needs to fix the backend, just atrocious if Hamhuis comes back I'll puke!!
I don't know if I believe the injuries side of it, who were the longest injuries to? Higgins (who's terrible) broken foot, Vrbata who was doing anything anyways, Hamhuis who was horrible the first 40 games, Sutter who definitely helps but is a fringe top six guy and Edler who I can legitimately say his loss made the team worse.
And yes, mid January the team was in a Wild Card position. But the season is 82 games, not 55 to 60. Unless your a Leaf fan |

So far I watched yesterday's St L / Chi game and the third period only of the Ducks game last night. , little interest - VANTEL
I watched a fair chunk of both. Good to watch exciting hockey. Even better to watch the Ducks lose. |

If Sutters healthy and doesn't put Bo in the position he was this year even though he excelled towards years end. This team can be successful. But we desperately need one or two dmen. And an extra forward would t hurt.
All this Stamkos talk is ridiculous. However, Okposo is not a huge stretch.
Draft a Dman sign a Dman sign a forward. Stay healthy. I firmly believe this team can make the playoffs next year.
The biggest question mark is our coach. He's made some pretty stupid decisions over the past year. |

Definitely D the big problem . I so agree , do not bring back Hamhuis . Fix the problem , don't bring back the same issues.
Regular season and playoffs are a different game and right now we don't have a guy that will grind opponents down of stand up and protect the goalie. We need that guy. We also need more points from the back end. Stecher and Larsen could be an answer but as of now I agree with you they could be Comet material too. |

Dream scenario...
1) Win the lotto, draft Matthews!
2) Sign Stamkos as your number one center!
3) Trade Sutter & Hansen for defensive help!
4) Trade Miller for cap relief!
5) Sign Eriksson to play with Stamkos or the twins!
Edit: forgot this lol |

I hope Canucks bring in 3 UFAs this year so Stamkos is not even on the radar. We need a top 6 forward. Okposo would be a good choice. We need a top 4 D not named Hamhuis. We also need a fourth liner like Martin.
I too think Desjardins may be over his head but give him credit for trying different things. In the next two years we need to transition the twins from top line to second line. Two years goes by quick. If Bo Sven and JV Etem or Rodin can hang around the twenty goal mark then we will be ok. |

I'm not nervous in the slightest. Demkos dad went to UBC and is a Canucks fan. Demko has always spoke about being excited to be a Canuck and to stay on the west coast. I also remembering hearing him and McCann where besties as well. - CanuckDon
McCann and Demko? How? I mean I guess anything is possible. One is from San Diego, one is from Stratford. One is NCAA, one is OHL. One is Canadian and one is American. |

I'd recommend watching the Kings/Sharks. That's going to be a hell of a series. |

Seen an interesting proposal the other day. Miller and Dorsett for Halak and Anders Lee. Sighting the Islanders needs for better tending and grit.
I'm not saying it would happen. But value wise and need wise it works |
