Im pretty sure Hockeybuzz is more knowledgeable then Cbc.
But who would you rather have, Rick(only when I feel like it) Nash or Corey Perry? I love Tkachuk. I like the comparable to Perry but Tkachuk is tougher and a better skater.
Im still sticking with
Mathews
Tkachuk
Chycerun
As my top 3. - Bieksa#3
I think tkachuk falls out of the top 5. |

This Demko situation has me feeling nervous. Benning has threw enough assets out the window, can't afford to lose this guy.
This Puljajari(SP). Seems like a pretty risky high pick. Most of what I read about him really pushes what he could be rather then what he is. With the exception of WJHC haven't seen him play.
Can't blame Boeser for returning to school. - Bieksa#3
Where are you reading that he is a high pick..? All I've been hearing is him mattews and laine are projected top liners possible franchise players and will be playing in the nhl next year. Doesn't sound to risky to me |

Depends how the lotto draft goes if there are a couple teams at 4 and 5 that really need defence maybe, but if only forwards are picked in the top five he will defiantly be one of them |

My memory isn't that short. It will get better. I don't see us as a bottom of the barrel in the league next season. We will be more competitive and have more shots. - thundachunk
If, as Linden just reiterated, they're going to continue to get younger next year, I don't see them turning this around quickly. It's gonna take some time. |

I said something to the same effect earlier in the blog. This is how I think it will go. Defence is going to be a hot commodity.

I'm inclined to agree. I have prepared myself for the possibility that next season could be worse but I'm holding out hope for a couple of decent, hard-nosed UFA/trade pick ups and a bit more experience from the kids and less injuries. Maybe even scratch at a wild card spot. |

It will be interesting to see if or how the viewership fairs in light of zero Canadian markets making the show.
I know many people here are watching the playoffs, but here out-east there seems to be zero sh!ts given. Oddly enough, many would tend to hop on the Bruins Bandwagon come playoff time and even they failed to make an entrance.
If DET gets bounced in the first round that should hurt as well.
Quite curious indeed. - Whiskey-Tango
Agree. Honestly here I am seeing pretty much zero interest unless someone is jumping on a US team bandwagon. I was at the Pub Wed night for day 1 of NHL PO's and most of the tv's were turned to the Blo Jays game…

Well I hope this day is done, everyone feeling superior over ganging up on a poster, regardless of the post, or the interpretation of the post. This evening has been very high schoolish, well done everyone.
I'm not surprised by the responses, by I am disappointed, (frank) me you guys would eat your own offspring if it came down to it.
Codes, I applaud your diplomacy, and a few others that refused to jump into the gang mentality...(neem, thunda, whitelie)
I like to call out outrageous posts as much as the next guy, but today was a blatant gang bang, again regardless of the post. There's other ways to articulate other than belittling a person.
Done, goodnight...I hope - Makita
You think it was over one post but it has been building for a while. People were already making comments about his arrogant posts for a while now. He stepped it up with that last one and people finally just laughed out loud... whats expected. It wasnt over opinion like you make it sound.

The team needs more offence, unless they address that in the off-season they're up the creek without a paddle again.
Sutter is a good special teams player but he's not someone who's gonna drive the offence, which is why the numbers show he's not a good second line center option.
They also need to defend MUCH MUCH better, that's a combination of coaching, defence and forwards. |

We'll need a bunch of our top players out for most of the season again for that to happen. People forget that were were still on the bubble for a playoff spot before the 9 game losing streak at the end of the season.

This is why I hate coaches challenge. This is going to take forever.
Edit: if you can challenge a goal for being off side, why not just get rid of the linesmen? It'd open up some more room on the ice. - CubanBuffet

I'm not nervous in the slightest. Demkos dad went to UBC and is a Canucks fan. Demko has always spoke about being excited to be a Canuck and to stay on the west coast. I also remembering hearing him and McCann where besties as well. |

Yep, all those close OT loses as well. If those turned out to be wins we would have made the final Wildcard spot.
That and the injuries killed this team.
I highly doubt the team is anywhere near as bad as many make it out to be.
A healthy team next year, perhaps with a top 3 pick on the roster, some decent UFA signings and another year of 'growth' among the kids and we could be right back at it.
Nowhere near a contender but i believe the team will be competitive at the very least.

Totally agree and hoping that comes in the way of a franchise draft choice and a decent UFA.
But I like where Benning is going it looks like he may be building Defense - out so to me that is the way to go. Lidster needs help big time.
If Markstrom really emerges over Miller next year (which should be) then we can be cautiously optimistic…

"Pro-rating the 2012-13 lockout year, the Canucks averaged 46 wins and 101 points in the nine seasons before this one. They made the playoffs seven times and past the first round four times.
Nobody has seen anything like this Canucks team since the 1990s, and it scares people"
thus the freak out crowd not remembering what it's like to have a poor team....its been a long time since the Canucks were bad. - LeftCoaster
It's not a freak out crowd. Those stats sugar coat. We had a four year run where we were very good. If you take the last 5 years you will see that we never made it past the first round. We have 5 playoff wins in the five years and missed the playoff twice.
You would find bad numbers if you looked at the last 15 years.
The Canucks had a four year stretch where it was the best Canucks hockey. Hanging on to thoses years would be like a certain fan the won back in 67.
The future is bright but we need to move on from 2011 |
