I wouldn't be surprised if Lucic's contract starts with an 8 in front of it in terms of Length and Money.
No Thanks |

It's the best hockey I've seen in a long time. It has dragged me out of the zombie like state I've been in for the last month and actually engaged me.
The Canucks are so far away from being able to do what these teams are doing. - CubanBuffet
This is very entertaining, and you're right the Canucks are a long way away. |

I'm hoping they will be a legitimate contender again by the time my son is able to understand what it is we're watching when we're screaming at the TV. |

Although the Sharks won, I think they were really slow at times. Sure they played a hell of a first period but that short-handed goal was painful to watch the Sharks try to catch up.
I think Lucic disappeared in the third... maybe his role as intimidating everyone does not work in close playoff games.
But what I hated ---- there was zero message sent by the kings at the end of the game. Nothing. Not that I expect a decapitation or anything but a scrum at least... some facewashing.... |

We do have a good stable of young kids. They are not elite but they are very good.
What takes so long is when you wait for contracts to expire. Keeping Burrows this year as a 4.5 mil cap hit 4 th liner is ludicrous . You could target a guy like Matt Martin cheaper , younger , stronger faster who has the most hits in the NHL and twenty goals. Lock that guy up for a nice contract.
Replace Vrbata with Eriksson . Target a second line player like Brouwer or McGinn .
Adding three players like that and getting rid of Burrows Vrbata and whomever will go a long way fixing the O.
The D Canucks have two maybe high end players. Edler and maybe Tryamkin . The rest are just servicable players . This nonsense of bring back Hamhuis is mind numbing. We have the lowest scoring softest D and fans are calling to bring players back.
We need to stop getting so attached to players names |

Washington is so good at taking away space and forechecking they make other teams make mistakes. Really good team this year. Philadelphia is outmatched.
San Jose and LA are both very evenly matched. This series will come down to special teams and I think San Jose has the advantage unless Quick and Doughty take this series over which is entirely possible.
Florida and NYI too much space given away by both teams. Game 1 showed me this series could go either way with suspect goaltending and extra space. It was the Tavares show in game 1. Game 2 could really change the out look of this series.
Dallas...Look out. This is a strong well build team. At times it seems they do all the little things right. This team is legit and could be a true contender.

Would much rather spend the extra 4-5 mill and get Stamkos, but more likely scenario id much rather Boedker over Eriksson.

I would put Tryamkin in that group too. He is just beginning but his ceiling could be huge. I would keep him to see what we have but everyone else.
My two keepers would be Horvat and Tryamkin only |

While I would love Stamkos on this team I really don't want to spend 12 million per season over the next 7 years for him. Let Toronto have him. Although we would improves instantly it would handcuff us trying to improve and keep guys on the team in 3 years. |

"very good" is basically the description of the top franchise players, though arguments could be made for the likes of the Sedins and Naslund, Bure was our only definite elite player. If they can pick top 3 this year, that kid will hopefully be the new face of the franchise, leader and player to build around in the coming seasons |

I am in the same boat, no allegiances to anyone, not even Horvat or Tryamkin. That being said there are guys I wouldnt just give away, like those two, the Sedins or the rookies from this season. But no one on the roster is like a McDavid where he is considered untouchable, for the right price I move them all in hopes of improving |

Yes there's some young players but they're not developed enough to be competitive, they'll need more and more of the higher talent level to succeed.
I agree, as you know, players like Higgins and Burrows need to go, but they have changed out a lot of players in the past two years.
At the end of the day it's gonna be current and future youth that'll take the club back to the playoffs IMO. They just don't have enough talent in between the Sedins and the Horvat's. |
