i think sometimes I forgot how lucky we were to have such a great owner in Ed.

I'm sure many saw this, but I hadn't heard how melnyk was blasting the Ottawa coach publicly before seasons end. Holy crap what a gong show. Imagine having that clown in charge. That's a dumpster fire. The outgoings Gm traded for phaneuf and his massively overpaid 7 mil a year and didn't force their division rival to even retain any salary?? What the hell? - Hextall271
He went off pretty good with games left on the schedule while rehashing stuff from the first week of the season. He expected them to be in the playoffs again. They were a bubble team that rode an intensely got goalie. They had too many injuries as a bubble team again this year to make the playoffs. Melnyk did pony up the cash to acquire Phanuef to fill a need. They dumped a ton of salary and one decent prospect. |

Flyers in 4 - Nucker101
I can't wait to see people overreact to them getting eliminated by the President Trophy winners. I just wonder what Timny piece we'll see first. "They can't win with Mason" or "They can't win with G" |

What I see is that the expectations were unrealistic. They made a crazy run late last year as you say and rode a hot goalie into a first round loss. Sometimes people overlook the flaws and the fact luck may have played a part. Sounds like he expected them to make the lead to contender and complete a linear rise to the cup which shows he's delusional. I'd be losing it if this was the Flyers. |

Long-time reader, first-time poster, due to technical difficulties...
Anyway, I know this thread sort of dropped, but how about #10? Bridgman, McCrimmon, and LeClair, and hopefully adding Schenn to the list within a few years.
Remembering back to a day in April 1996 when I worked in Center City... got a call from a friend of the family in the mid-afternoon who worked at a major firm there... he's not a sports fan at all, so when he asked if I knew there was a Flyers game that night - game 1 of the playoffs vs. the Lightning - I got really excited... he had rights to the firm's tickets to the game, and would my Dad and I like to go with him... don't have to ask me twice! We got into the Spectrum about 15-20 minutes before game time... and as soon as we walked in, I could feel the electricity in the air... unbelievable... the crowd was so juiced... and then I think it was Joel Otto scored in the first minute, and the Flyers got two more before the 10:00 mark... wow was the building rocking! Can't believe that was 20 years ago! |

Is he still being groomed to take on the Berube legacy? - Tomahawk
I think he's gonna have a job in the org, but I'd be surprised if he was viewed as an "up and coming" coaching prospect. |

Welcome! I remember that series so vividly. Tampa got up 2 games to 1 and the Flyers roared back. My favorite part was at the end of game 6 when the game was no longer in doubt, Lindros laid a serious beatdown on Igor Ulanov who had been running him all series.. Just an epic destruction.

Welcome aboard!
And I think I was at that game. The Flyers blew the Lightening out in that game, but that ended up being a real tough series.
That was the series that ended, quite satisfyingly, with Eric Lindros beating up Igor Ulanov (a dirty player) like he stole something.

Thanks for the welcome... and I stand corrected - upon further checking, it was Dale Hawerchuk who scored for the Flyers in the first minute... Otto got the 2nd one. |

Welcome friend! Awesome story too...
I was at the playoff game against the Caps a few years back when he did the whole pirouette dive that got them a PP.. The next game people were merciless when ever he touched the ice. Yelling and screaming things at him.. Booing.. After the game there was a full on "F#@$ Ovechkin!" chant. |

we're making philly great again
We have the best fans people BELIEVE ME when I say this.
We're also going to get the best players.
We're going to start winning so much, we're going to get bored of winning
We're going to build a great trophy case. the best trophy case you're ever seen.
It will be done early and under budget and I'm going to make Pittsbrugh pay for it.
Ovechkin and Backstrom? Choke artists and losers.
After we win against Ovechkin and Backstrom, we're going to take down Little Crosby.
