Lots of Flyers fans who remember the old Patrick Division will always have a bit of hate for the Caps.
Never forget it was the franchise that spawned Scott Stevens and harbored the war criminal Dale Hunter. - johndewar
I was in Washington DC last year during the playoffs. I walk past Verizon Center decked out in Lightning gear, stopped There for a moment with a smug grin on my face, flip them the bird and kept right on going.

I don't know if it's the talent or the system or whatever, but I thought the Rangers blue line is considered better than what they are playing. I've seen a few Ranger games lately (by coincidence) and frankly, they don't look much better than our guys. - johndewar
Age and injuries have crushed them this season by what I've seen.
Schenn and Couturier have good chemistry, too, however. That perfect pass by Couturier to spring Schenn (on the play where, a couple seconds later, Murray got hurt on the collision at the net with Schenn) happens pretty regularly when those two are on the same line.
Good chance for some secondary scoring, which the Flyers will need. - bmeltzer
If you also remember back to the final 10 games of last season when schenn was put on the RW with coots, they had a really good run together. I've always been in favor of schenn with coots and simmonds with g. i think putting jake back on the LW may jump start him a bit like it did earlier this year. i would probably put raffl up with schenn and coots, and keep the other lines as is.
Bill, what do you think about playing Medey over MacDonald. I know AMac is a small reason why the flyers are here, and i understand what he brings to the table, but in this series, any hesitation whatsoever and that will spell trouble. AMac blocks shots, i get it, and he was good with Ghost in LV, but on this stage i dont know if his positives outweight his negatives.
Conversely, I know Medvedev is a relative unknown, but he brings an offensive prowess, an ability to skate and start a rush, a solid first pass, and some PP skill. after sitting out 14 games and launching that laser on Sunday, he just seems like a necessary gamble at this stage, especially looking at the competition we're facing. I know making changes at this stage is almost zero, but what do you think?
Gagner is a streaky player. Maybe he catches lightning in a bottle in this series.
I wouldn't be counting on him for offense though.
Obviously the Flyers need their best players to play great, and they need to stay out of the box. - PLindbergh31
Oh yeah not likely, but not everything is likely in Stanley cup playoffs. Would be a fun underdog story to happen if he does catch lightning in a bottle. Tis the time for the unexpected to step up. Let's hope Jake shows up old form so we don't have to look for someone else such as Gagner to step up.

They're going to be all over Ghost. I'm worried about who is going to step up on D.

I'm with you. I expect this to be a competitive series. As I said the other day, making the playoffs in the infancy of Hextall's regime with a first year coach puts them ahead of schedule. Everything is gravy now.
That or Gagner steps up majorly for his playoff debut series - arichardson22
i would not be shocked at all if gagner has a nice little run in the playoffs. guy has been in the league since 06 and hasnt played in one. I feel a fire might be lit under his ass

I honestly was not expecting playoffs this season, so its natural to say im not expecting them to make it to the cup, but beating Washington round one could do huge things for this team confidence wise. Anything can happen #becauseitsthecup
One of those assignments that editorial depts have to do... I'm sure there are 16 different versions of the article -- one per each team in the playoffs. Wasn't Adam's idea. - bmeltzer

Yeah I'm just thankful we are here and I'm absolutely loving the giddiness of playoff hockey. As you said, it's all gravy now. Even just great for young guys like Manning, Ghost, Laughton, and Cousins to get first time playoff experience. And as mentioned before, nice to see Gagner get there too.
Barely remember #16 because I was a toddler when he finished up his career, but have seen plenty of highlights to know that guy gave all he had for the Orange and Black. Unfortunately, I know all too well Bob Clarke the GM and let's just say I wasn't a fan, especially with how he treated #88. - aantny88
You have to admit he, along with his parents, was a big part of the problem.
