If referee's weren't so smug, arrogant, and retarded it would be a lot easier to take Paul Stewart seriously.

For every fight, Simmonds get an extra penalty for being black

Game 1 on the road... That should have been the game plan from the drop of the whistle. Kill them when you can.
- MikesPillBottle

Lesson to learn from this game: The refs suck, so no reason not to attack and take charge. At least get called for a legitimate penalty.

"We have to stay out of the box, especially against these guys".

Keep that fear of playing the damn game going.

Couturier done for series.
- flyer_nutter

I would mind seeing Schenn Gudas or white take a healthy run at ov for sown payback.

mason let a nobody like beagle score on him
- 2Real

Hopefully this is sarcasm. Most professionals with that kind of time and space are going to score on a play like that. Except maybe Jake Voracek.

In this year's draft I want hextall to use those picks on forwards who can skate, have some ability to score and are above 6ft and get (frank)ing dirty.Enough of the small speedy guys.

Solid hit by Schenn at the end. Whistle hadn't blown, good hit. Then lots of cheap poop from the Caps.

I remember when the Flyers used to be able to score on the PP. Huge missed opportunity there. That was the game early on.

And I remember when Jake used to do more than skate around and grow shaggy hair. He owes the team and fans a lot more than he's been delivering lately.

Real bad call on that eve-up penalty on Simmonds toward the end.

Had the one nice deke to draw the penalty and that's it

With no couturier and no powerplay threat? He's right. It'll be a cakewalk for Washington.
- Giroux_Is_God

It's one freaking game.

Yeah, the Caps are a damn good team, and will likely win this series ... but to say it's gonna be a cakewalk and get out the brooms?

We'll see ... but the Flyers have shown all year long that they're a scrappy team.

Right. They will call things regardless. You don't hook, hold, trip, etc.

You initiate physicality all night long and play on the edge. The REFS WILL CALL poop REGARDLESS.

The ref's sucking is always a given. It's an NHL game. It's a given that you're most likely going to get 2 guys who think their poop doesn't stink and ruin the entertainment for the evening.

Or maybe the NHL told them not to call everything to get the teams angry and fight alot to boost ratings.

I don't expect the Flyers to win this so I can't get that mad. But seriously how does Tom Wilson board a guy and instigate a fight and we get nothing?
- hereticpride

Some calls tonite were very creative but it's nothing you wouldn't expect. That said, if the Flyers could've taken the opportunity given to them earlier to net a couple on the PP, the game would've taken on a vastly different complexion.

I likes their spirit but I would've liked a little more offense. Schenn was a missile tonite.

Would or wouldn't? It didn't look like a bad hit to me, Couts just caught the boards between the wall and the glass in the wrong spot. I only saw the hit once on replay, but it just looked like crap luck.

^Not with Gary running the league.
Refs suck, but this was a level I haven't seen in a while, and definitely not this loopy in the playoffs.

Flyers are scrappy and deserve credit for being resilient all year. But coots isn't a guy they can afford to lose and their pp has been stagnant for a while and no adjustments have been made.
