I've had my issues with him, as im sure much of the fanbase has had. Never did I question his commitment and dedication to the franchise. For a time I thought they'd never ditch their archaic team building philosophy that hadn't changed when the cap was introduced. He had however impressed me with his embracement of the new direction the team has taken under Hexy. He truly wanted what's best for the flyers.

he may have been stubborn in his ways, and i know this isnt always the most sentimental business, but i do think its cool that in a world of cut throat attacks and bottom line pennies, the guy had so much loyalty to his priorities and those close to him.

he also just cared so, so much about winning. again, even if he may have held onto certain things so much, you could never question his intentions. can't say that about most owners these days, especially in this town.

Very sad day indeed. Thanks for a great tribute, Bill. RIP ED! My thoughts and prayers go out first of all to the Snider family and to the Flyers family as a whole! That includes all of us that love and root for the Flyers as well. We have all lost something precious today.
Thank you for the Flyers and all the great work you have done for Philly. You will be missed.
OK boys, lets win one for Ed.

Never met the man, and I'm saddened of the news.
It's a sad day for the Flyers, Philly, and hockey as a whole.
Guys like him are rare.

Sad news, Philly fans.

After watching you guys end the season and in honor of Mr. Snider, I am officially changing my postseason plans and rooting for the Flyers this year.

That first game back in Philadelphia will be magnificent.

In a lot of ways, this team is what I think Mr Snider always envisioned. A group of men not the most skilled, not the fastest or biggest. A group with hearts of lions using their sheer will and hard work to win.

Let's go Flyers.

Just listened to prime time sports up here and Bob mccown and Damien cox had Bill Daly on. Talking all about Ed. So many great things to say about him. Have no doubt. He was well respected in Canada.

It feels like losing a grandfather. It really does. Maybe you argued about politics or whatever, but he was always there for you. That's what it feels like.

I believe fans minimize how much luck is involved in winning the Stanley Cup. It has been a long time since the Flyers have won the cup, but what gets overlooked is pretty much the Flyers lost to dynasties.

Ed Snider created a culture of doing everything possible to win the Cup every year. Personnel mistakes were made, but winning is all that mattered. Also, a boss who was loyal to his employees really isn't a bad characteristic to have.

Thanks Bill. Mr. Snider will truly be missed. I hope that his legacy will live on, and that one day our team will lift the Cup once again in his honer.
It would be great to see a banner raised in his name as well.
Peace.
