what Mr Snider has done for the City of Philadelphia goes well beyond just bringing the Flyers and the family atmosphere of the organization. His founding of the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation which I have the privilege to volunteer with for years has opened up the ability to kids from the city of Philly and Camden to play hockey as well with work with the kids off the ice with their schooling and just how to be better people. Thanks to Mr Snider many of the city rinks were not only kept open when they were on the brink of being closed down, he also had them renovated.

Mr Snider was a great owner but more importantly, a great man.

It feels like we lost a family member because that is what Snider brought to the organization. the fans were made to feel like family too.

I just watched the Pens Game last night and at the end of the game Simmonds said this victory was for Ed Snider and that he was hospitalized. Woke up this morning, the NHL app sent me this news. Ouch!

Well said Bill. As always you capture the spirit of the thing perfectly. It feels like we lost a relative today. It's painful. We have lost an icon. What Ed Snider brought to the city of Philadelphia and it's fans was unmatched by any one individual in my lifetime. Snider was the rare owner that matched the fire of his city's fanbase-and this city is easily one of the most passionate fanbases going. A man of vision, whose desire for the Flyers to win was never questionable, who wore his heart on his sleeve as much as any fan. That passion that Ed Snider had may have led to some poor decisions in the cap era, but the intensity of that passion was unquestionable. Even beyond sports, Ed Snider's impact on the community, with his charitable work and the Ed Snider Youth Hockey program will live on. In closing, Thank You, Mr Snider, for all you have given to me and to the city of Philadelphia. RIP.

Well said Jsaq. Thanks to Ed for bringing my beloved Flyers into existence. His passion which resonated with the team is a big reason that there are Flyers fans all over the place and not just in Philly. I truly believe that Ed will get a fitting tribute in the form of a Stanley cup parade down Broad St. in the not too distant future.

What a sad sad day.

I know that Ed Snider was proud of what this team accomplished this season with their great second half run to make the playoffs. And I am sure he was glad to see the success that Gostisbehere had when he came up.

A pretty fabulous last season as the Chairman and top fan.

Thanks for everything Mr Snider. Much love and best wishes to the Snider family today.

Great tribute Bill. You are the best!

I got to visit the Spectrum when they opened it to the public a few years ago right before it was torn down. It was like mecca to me. So many great things happened in that arena. I got a STH to tell me which end Ron shot his first goal from, and got a pic right at that spot. I thank Ed for the Flyers and allowing me to enjoy being part of the passionate fan base.

There's a reason that the Flyers are BY FAR my favorite sports franchise, and it's because of the passion he brought.

It's good that Hexy and Hak were able to get the Flyers house in order before Snider passed away.
