1.5 mil is pennies for a guy you have ZERO faith in playing. Plus the roster spot for and no move clause.
- Mononoke

1.5 million is the difference between acquiring a difference-maker at the trade deadline or having to stay pat with your current roster.

If the expansion draft requires us to buy him out....fine. Otherwise, keep him for his last year. Plenty of guys are off the cap next year.

Just for the betterment of the team. I want him gone. He is clearly not an NHL player and this fall you can guarantee he won't earn his spot. He's dead wood and drags everyone down. The money is of no consequence. It's the roster flexibility and having the best players available to you, not to mention the threat of the scratched player taking your icetime.

I see no point in starting a rookie goalie other then entertainment value (which obviously as a fan I support but a GM should not). Start Nuevy if he is healthy (if not, he shouldn't have been the back up) and Razor otherwise. Razor COULD actually play in the POs. Remember the Lieghton, Bouche, Bobrovski tandem? It is wise to get Razor in some action. At least give him the 3rd period.

As for call ups I agree they should play all players that might see game action such as Weal and Laughton 1st. If RJ is being bought out, which I am on the fence about, he shouldn't play due to potential injury. Not worth the risk. The Flyers owe him nothing, they have given him plenty already.

Not that we'd ever see Flyers fans defending a goon. (Like the Sestito fans when he was here. Or the Carcillo lovers. Or the ....)

I don't know how I feel about that hit to be honest. It was unnecessary, but it does not look like he hit him all that hard. It's not like there aren't extra hits all the time after the whistle. It is unfortunate the way Johnson fell, but I do not think there was intent to injure. Should the shots after the whistle go? Probably. Is what the player did all that different from what players do all the time? Probably not. The result sucks, he should not have hit him, but I don't know that it was particularly a vicious or unusual of a hit.

You have a lot more faith then myself in believing the NHL will actually have rules that are strong in common sense for the expansion draft in '17. I wouldn't be shocked to see the rules finalized until after Christmas.

For the incompetence of the NHL alone I buy out Umby. I'm not risking having to use a protected slot because of the stupidity of the league office.

In fairness. I watched it after the Flyers game. But it just felt pathetic. We barely made the post season but we clawed like hell to get in. This is a fun team to follow

How much did we claw our way in though? I don't have the record or the numbers in front of me but I believe we were the best team in the league since the All-Star Game. Giroux, Simmonds, Schenn and Ghost really stepped up down the stretch. Sean Couturier proved just how important he is in all 3 zones because it really felt like we couldn't win without him. Stellar Goaltending. We've beat teams (including Washington) that we probably shouldn't have.

I feel like the Red Wings for example really Forrest Gumped their way into the playoffs by backing in. They simple needed Boston to lose to make it. We on the other hand got lucky tonight's game was delayed but for the most part, we now have breathing room for most our players, now that tonight is meaningless.

Ray Emery's contract is over after tonight. He won't be available beyond tonight.

winning 30 of the last 44 possible points is a tear, yes, but that's clawing when the season's start had everything thinking draft lottery.

ETA, on the other hand we had to depend on the Bruins for an epic collapse. I love that, because I hate the Bruins.

I hope Management and the Coaches have done their math on the outcome possibilities of tonight's game, should we pass the caps. The Islanders are playing for position and can still hop of the Rangers. Any word on tonight's line up?

A difference maker? Is it really the difference? Besides the fact a difference maker costs assets (picks and prospects), I really really don't see the Flyers making that acquisition for the next two years. The Flyers have a lot of $$ coming off the books, a bunch of ELC contracts, flexibility cap-wise as is, and if that 1.5 million really is a difference maker for 17-18, I'd be questioning what the heck Hexy has done to screw up the cap again so quickly. I'm all for a medium sized FA contract in this offseason or next, but there's room for that already.

If he requires protection, he's 100% gone. Even if he doesn't, his roster spot is far too valuable with all the waiver exempt prospects we'd like to see get looks. For that cost I don't see the point in buying out a player who people cringe at playing.

FWIW, Carchidi tweeted Neuvy is getting the start tonight.

Me too. I am wondering if he plays maybe half the game and then the back-up is brought in for the remainder. I don't need to see a repeat performance of the back-up goalie going down like Murray did yesterday for the Pens.

I mean, don't the writers have access to the locker room pregame? You would think somebody has something to report other than Neuvy getting the start by now.

Edit: There we go

Thanks. I was wondering if it would be Couts or Voracek scratched tonight with nobody brought up from the Phantoms. Sure hope Jake can work his way out of his funk. He is working his butt off on the ice, maybe trying a little too hard.
