I am simply rooting for a bloodbath. Death, dismemberment, possibly a plague of some kind.

same for your series. tom wilson is literally a monster out there. and i think the flyers can stretch it to at least 6. i don't think the caps are going to be able to steamroll right through in 4. the flyers play them well.

What a player that guy is. We don't have any answer for a guy like that. Just have to work through it

it would definitely be an upset of course, but it shouldn't be out of the total realm of possibility. the pressure is going to be all on washington. if the flyers manage to steal one of the first two on their ice, things could get crazy.

I feel like the Flyers could use Medvedev's point shot on the 2nd pp as well as his abilities to move the puck up ice in the Caps series. I know he is sometimes a liability in his own end but I think he comes up big against the Caps with something to prove to his fellow countrymen on Washington, hoping Hak sees the same things.

I couldn't agree more. Would love to see MacDonald sit so he can play, but realistically the best we can hope for is sitting Manning. Either way, Medvedev brings the ability to drive play the other way and create chances in a way that neither of those guys are capable of. I hope Hakstol changes his mind on Medvedev.

As do I, Manning plays a more simplified game than Medvedev does which is something Hakstol obviously prefers as there is more consistency from him on a game in and game out basis. Its just pisses me off, because you can see the sort of x factor Medvedev brings with his game. He can be a difference maker offensively for this team if they just give him some playing time and that's something Manning can't match.

He's meszaros-like in so many ways. When it comes down to it, I can see why the coach just can't put his faith in him

Here's hoping the Pens beat the Rags, and we see an all Pennsylvania match up in RD 2

Call me crazy but I like the playoff format. Before I think playing the Rangers and Devils 7/8 times a year was too much. 4/5 times is perfect and then the likely playoff matchup. Sorry but I love it.

I guess , I really don't see Manning being any better defensively than him though and that's why it baffles me that he is sitting. I mean Manning brings no offensive production and doesn't drive the play offensively, he blows coverage's in his own zone just as frequently as Medvedev did earlier in the season yet he still gets to play. It just makes no sense to me, wouldn't you want to put the guy in that can at least help you score goals.

that would be wild. should that happen, the winner would likely be very poised for a cup appearance.

Mesz would be start over Manning and AMac I think.

I definitely sit Manning for Medvedev for Game 1, but I doubt it happens.

Yeah Hakstol has a hard on for Manning and Vandevelde, personally I'd play Medvedev and Laughton over both.

Let's revisit 2008, only a scant one year removed from the season that can't be mentioned...

That series will forever endear RJ in my heart. While ready to see his time here come to an end, I remember the happier times.

This is a quote from him tonight: "I’m a pro. I’ve been in this league a long time,” the 33-year-old forward said. “I understand how things work. There’s guys playing better than me all year. That’s the nature of the business. I can accept that. The last six weeks it’s been hard watching, but you also gotta at the same time just appreciate that you’re still in the league and you’re part of this group.”

That's why I'm glad he got to play tonight. He's been professional about this. He knows he's not a full-time NHLer anymore. But he hasn't said a word about it or griped publicly. I respect that

I really doubt Hakstol switches things up because of tonight's game against the Islander's JV squad. He's going to stuck with the lineup that got them there. Medvedev, I'm sure, will be first in line for an injury. But that's about it.

There's a reason they call him Mandog. He's a brawler. Not the biggest, not the fastest, but definitely tenacious. Imo they need that. If the mix were different I think medvedev would be in. Ever since streit got back hakstol kissed him goodbye

RJ is definitely a class act, would have loved to see his second stint here come with a little more productivity but he isn't a bad dude to have around the younger players in the locker room. Even though he wasn't playing often or even producing when he did play this season, he set the example of how to be a pro for some of the younger players and that's always a great thing to see.

Neuvirth was a freaking beast early and in the middle, Mason was a beast in the middle and late

A little of it was smoke and mirrors, when you look at the composition of the defense, but when they finally brought Ghost up and eliminated the slowest players on the roster in Umberger, Wheels and Luke Schenn, they were able to "system" their way to a pretty neat season

Schenn's growth and consistency was also huge -- can't take anything away from him this season. He was below the bar only a handful of games, no more than anyone else

Any chance he just retires at the end of the season?
