Let's go Flyers!
Against all odds, a team stands upon its extinction. Stand together, hit till your bones break, skate past exhaustion and play until you hear those victory horns blow in the deep. Now is the time.

No man that's totally true. If we had beat Columbus the other week, arizona, and toronto, things may look much different than they are right now. That's obviously the difference between a cup contender, and a pretty good team. Give them another year or two, and they're flying through teams/games like those. - benjichronic
Agree. It really doesn't bother me at all what kind of lineup the Rags put on the ice, whether it be their full squad or their secretarial staff.
The Flyers placed themselves in this position. We should not have to be looking to other teams to help us out.
The end result of the Flyers dropping the ball against the likes of TO and Pho is simple - don't worry about other team's lineups and win today. And if necessary, win tomorrow. |

Flyers will need everyone to play at their best to have a chance to win today.
Mase will need to almost steal this one I think.
Nothing in their recent stretch of games leads to the belief that they will do this but this team does their best with their back against the wall.
Not very optimistic though. We'll see soon enough.

Agree.....but what does it tell you about the Rangers coaches confidence in their team...when you do stuff like this...it ends up being bad karma.
The Flyers could have done this in 2014 and chose not to. - ClutchFlyer

In a 2-1 game 7 (thanks to Mason standing on his head) after a blowout win in game 6. They went down but did it honorably. |

Mattias Samuelsson (son of Kjell) was just selected by Sarnia in the 4th round of the OHL Draft..........but he's a commit to Michigan |

I almost expect the team to come out and win this game. It's exactly the way the script's been all season.

Not trolling because I'm rooting for you guys to get in and play the caps because I think it wil be a great series but you can't whine about other teams Bill for their lineup decisions down the stretch when you lose two games at home down the stretch to teams like the Hurricanes & Maple Leafs especially the Leafs. Plenty of chances to take care of business on their own without anybody else's help and they didn't. - Vukota
He's been somewhat out of sorts of late with the complaints.
But I fully agree with this assessment |

As for "whining", you seemed to have missed where I wrote that Flyers would only have themselves to blame if the miss. But the Rangers sending out far less than their best available lineup while they still have a shot at finishing higher in the standings says a lot about their character, IMO.

Speaking from the heart here and not as a journalist -- although some of it seeped into the game preview in a toned-down way -- I am angry about the Rangers mailing it in on Thursday and Vigneault dressing a lineup today that sends a message that the team is afraid to play Pittsburgh.
Who knows? The Rangers could end up winning today, anyway, even in regulation. Hockey works that way sometimes. Even with a downgraded lineup, the Rangers players will be loose but also not wanting to be embarrassed in front of the home crowd, as they were on Thursday. Detroit is playing for its season and was awful against Boston after shutting out the Flyers.
Two seasons ago, the Flyers had a playoff spot locked up and could have tanked the final two games to avoid a first-round matchup with the Rangers. They didn't. They went all-out -- lost Mason to a concussion in the process -- to clinch and then even staged a comeback from a 4-1 deficit to take a regulation point in a meaningless regular season finale with Cal Heeter in goal against Carolina.
So to see the Rangers making no real effort to try to edge out the Islanders for third in the division -- most likely because they want to avoid Pittsburgh in round one -- yeah, it makes me a little angry.
Florida is certainly capable of taking out the Rangers in round one and, if not, New York very easily could run into the Penguins -- or the Capitals -- in round two anyway. So itself of trying to pick your poison, go all out, play to win and let the chips fall where they may. - bmeltzer
I made that comment about the Rangers wanting to avoid the Pens and got poo pooed a bit. I absolutely believe they are trying to avoid 3rd place. the Pens are a buzzsaw right now I have to think no one wants |

Great write up. The Rangers are gutless as are there fans.
Say what you will but I'm willing to bet these two teams will give it their all today. It's just the way these two teams have been for years. It's always a battle. I expect the Flyers to come out like they have been shot out of a cannon. - powerhouse
Problem is they have been playing like they have very little left in the tank. |

Absolutely, the Flyers are in this position of their own accord. Slow start and squandering points they looked like they had in the bank. |
