Tony G was on talking about how Hansen scoring last night on the 5-on-3 made Willie look terrible. Seems to me that Willie put Hansen out there... It also seems like Hansen has had a pretty great individual year under the coach. Sometimes you just wonder about where the talking heads get their insights.

I think his comments were referring to Willie's lack of flexibility over the course of the year. The PP hasnt been great, and Hansen finally gets put out there and scores, Tony G probably is puzzled why this was never tried at any other point.

I never heard or saw the comment but I have heard him a few times on the pregame show and he is fully on board with WD getting fired. Doesnt think he can enter the room next year with largely the same roster and expect the results to be much different under the same coach

I always loved watching Ruutu fight. He'd tie the other guy's arms up in their jersey and then pummel them. It was ridiculous.

Brashaer was probably the most successful ever. Rypien was the most skilled. Gino was probably the most fun.

I remember him stepping in for a Canucks D man one time (I think it was Ohlund) who had just laid someone out with a big hit and the other team's enforcer was after them just outside the blueline. Ruutu skates over quickly and you could clearly lip read him saying "I got this" as he launched into the guy with great enthusiasm.

Tony G was saying that Willie looked bad because Hansen obviously should have been on the PP already. He described Hansen scoring as a 'kick in the crotch' for Willie. Seems like Tony and Pratt really just like to hear themselves talk, whether they are making sense or not.

and id agree with him 100% then.

BUT there's some perspective here too. Injuries aside and fully on the coaching aspect, It isnt 100% all on willie either. THere are 3 other coaches behind the bench and 2 watching games in stands and video. The whole lot should go if you ask me. If a guy like pearns, watching games in the stands cant see wtf is going wrong with the team game after game and reporting it back to the bench etc then wtf good is he?
AND lidster has had our D bottom of the nhl since his arrival. THe only guy id keep is gully....and at this point thats iffy.

A fresh lot behind the bench please!! A defense coach that knows his systems and an X's and o's HC. COaches that communicate and integrate like the good teams do.

Anyone know what station has the game? Sportsnet seems to be blowing the blue jays right now and can't find it.

NVM, didn't realize it was tomorrow. I have this new layout for the NHL. Sometimes it is hard to notice that it changed the date when scrolling through the games.

I'd take Okoposo before Ericsson...we need more grit in our top 6
- CanuckDon

Depends on where we get secondary scoring & whats the price/term.
With a healthy Sutter prolly being 2C with Hansen in the Sedin line & Rodin coming over & Boeser maybe leaving UND idk where we fit everyone.

All joking aside. Sportsnet did a little stat on the progression of Henrik Sedin and Ryan Kesler after 2 years in the NHL and BO has posted similar numbers to Henrik and better numbers than Kesler. I know this means next to nothing when forecasting the future, but it really puts a halt to the people bringing up his +/- (dumbest) stat.
- Codes1087

The +/- stat needs other indicators to be better used.
Eg who is the D pairing & who is he matched against.
That explains his poor rating & also our depth & injury problems.

If we signed forwards, the 3 i'd targe(who we target would be depending on draft position) would be Stamkos, Ladd, Okposo. If Higgins and/or Burrows decided to retire this year, or we traded, we could go after Ladd, Okposo, and a Defenseman.
- Retinalz

Stamkos, M Martin for me.
Maybe Demers or an OS for Lindholm or Vatanen.

Gillis traded a second or 3rd for him...completely useless...it's hilarious because Bening receives hate mail over the Vey trade

I'd be happy with him...better size and arguably more skill than his bro (who is the number 1 prospect in the world). He also doesn't look like a chick

donald brashear was the best we ever had. Undisputed champion hands down. Dont think he ever lost once unless you count the stick to the head incident.

rypien likely next runner up though. Good scrapper for a smaller guy
