Maybe they're also thinking they have 2 more years of this type of hockey to look forward to.

Even Subbans feelings?
- CanuckDon

Subban is so fragile that even a Mickey Mouse shaped cloud has a crushing effect on his soul.

Thought provoking question. I am sure everyone here are nucks fans and have been following the team and the players. In all these years I have never heard the Sedin twins make controversial statements. I think they are making a point about coaching and the direction of the team. What do you think?
Take Henriks last statement about how this winning 3 game winning streak was although being the first of the entire season. His comments we not encouraging but rather just because we won it does not mean we are good. I think this is a backhanded indirect jab at Management or coaching. Sedins we always about positive message. If we get blown out, his comments were "I thought we played a good game. We could have done better, but the other team was a better team" Something along these lines. Now we win and he says that this does not mean anything.
Daniels comments about not showing interest. We all assumed it was towards the young players, but what if it was towards the coaching staff? It can be applied to them as well.
I just feel that the change we are seeing is out of frustration and not just the scoreline but is it more then that.
So my question is, Is Bo better then Toews? LOL. But seriously, what do you guys think about their change in behavior.

- Linden_4_Capt

I think in large part the Sedins are just frustrated with the youth coming in and their apparent lack of discipline in some areas. The Sedins are hard core and they expect the same out of all the other players. They were frustrated and made comments on kassian too so nothing really new for the Sedins other than a stern message to MNGT. Get us a few players so we can compete.

It's pretty sad to think we could very well only have 2 players with more than 40pts, and 4 with more than 30.

I get the feeling we're much further from being a good team again than people realize. It's all fine and dandy to add a couple of new picks to the mix, but the Sedin's will continue to decline and then we'll still need to find more scoring.

- golfingsince

To do it right it will be 4-6 years, but there are to many screaming or praying for a quick fix that I'm concerned there is not the patience in this market that is needed.

This is one of the reasons I wanted us to take Ehlers at the draft instead of JV. We have nothing like that in the pipeline. JV is a big edgy player that teams covet, but what's his scoring potential? I would guess eventually a 15-20 goal guy. Maybe Boeser has more potential, but I'm really hoping we get a top 3 pick this year.

The Sedins are not going to badmouth management, they are professionals and want to win. Hank is just being honest (same with the JV thing) this team is not good and he just said that. None of us have ever seen this many rookies on a Canuck squad at the same time. What would you expect to see?
- A_SteamingLombardi

Exactly, they are just being honest and open. After criticizing the younger guys, one of them said, him and his brother at 19 were back in Sweden so he cant be too hard on the guys here. It wasn't a retraction of his comments but definitely a realization he had that this team is not in win-now mode and there is a maturation process in the works that he hasnt dealt with before

Yeah, I wanted Nylander. Oh well, we can't control that anymore. As much as we need scoring I think it may benefit us long term to not get a top 3 pick this season and force our hand to draft a Dman.

I get the feeling we'll get several more chances to land an elite scorer.

I get the joke, which wasn't a joke at the time, but the kid has taken everything thrown at him this year and continuously improved, fragile is not a word that can be used to describe him.

Small yes, still needs to work on his defensive side of the game yes, but he battles hard and does well physically despite being shorter than most players. He has had a couple of fights this year where he held his own and arguably won them both.

He has been a great story for the Comets this year and should be lauded for his mental strength for accomplishing what he has so far despite having the deck stacked against him.

I would have said go for a first round d-man a few weeks ago, but Tryamkin has been a great addition this year. JB has pretty much stated that they will go for a d-man if they are not in the top three. So while you can never have enough good young d-prospects ala Nashville, elite scorers don't exactly grow on trees either.

It's going to take time to get back to competitive in our division, but a top three pick could shorten that process somewhat.

I'm not sure how I feel about that. I do think some of our youth will begin to turn the corner shortly and add some offence, whereas our D even with the Russian is deplorable.

Drafting Matthews would give us a future franchise C, which is vital moving forward. I do think we'll be able to grab elite scoring wingers down the road however.

I don't agree that Benning said that, I think he quote has been taken out of context, but I agree I hope he doesn't take a D over Dubois, Tkachuk and possibly others. Chrychrun I could get behind in the 6 spot but Sergachev/Juolevi I'm not confident are better than those top 5 or 6 forwards.

Posters were outraged that he didn't get an exhibition game. It was bizarre and pathetic that people were upset over it. Hence, the feelings joke. He is a tough little guy no doubt

Part of an article in thecanuckway.com last week talking about JB at the Town Hall meetings with season ticket holders:

Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning revealed his intention to draft a defenceman at the 2016 NHL Draft earlier this month.

When Jim Benning talked to Vancouver Canucks season ticket holders β€” and kind of the rest of the world β€” at the two town hall meetings this month, he revealed his intention to select a defenceman at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He later elaborated that he wants to do what is best for the club, and that he only wants to go for defence if there is no forward available that is β€œtoo good to pass up.” With updated draft lottery odds, what does that mean for Vancouver?

I've been a Chychrun promoter since before this year and I stand by that being my number one choice. But if Sergachev is there at 5 or 6 I have absolutley no problem drafting him. 6'3 plays big, very fast and has a cannon. Yahs peas!
