Doesn't change who I'd take. So, you would take Reimer over Rinne based on that? LOL. - Oneonta Penguin
Reimer has been quietly quite good for a while. |

What is the scouting report on Plachta? Does he have any value? - Oneonta Penguin
Haven't seen much from him really. He seems to know where to be so he has some hockey sense but his production is surprising in that in the 10 or so games he's played for us so far, he's all ready matched what he did in his 40 games in Springfield. He's def. a distributor often playing the point.
Considering we got him and Jeffery for Marcuantoni we fleeced the Yotes...that is at least from an minor league stand point, from an NHL standpoint who knows. |

A. Mason, B. Neuvirth, C. James Reimer
Rinne is actually worse than Reimer....925 - 2.07
slightly on topic but you have to go back a while to get MAF near the top of the charts - YuenglingJagr
The thing about MAF though while he gets minimal Vezina consideration is that his stats are consistently good. He might not find himself in the top 3 every year but he's always up there. Like you said in your other post, goalies are so up and down. Name the goalies that have been consistently good as MAF in a starting capacity year in and year out. The list is pretty short. You have Lundqvist, Raask, Quick, and that's about it.
Other goalies that people consider elite and/better than MAF haven't been nearly as consistent. Bobrovsky, Rinne, Niemi and Varlamov all have a few outstanding years and then midocrity. Price and Luongo have had some serious down years. Ward, Miller, and C. Anderson are just not that good.
F. Anderson, Schnieder, Holtby, and Crawford haven't had a big enough sample size in their youngish careers, but they seem to be tracking in the same eschelon, but staying good for as long as MAF has isn't an easy feat. |

Great... So they use Sundqvist on a checking line? That's not his developmental need...
Anyways, does Rowney have any NHL potential. It seems like every WBS update on DK has fawned over him. - Victoro311
Actually from what I hear, its Sullivans call. I think he wants him to log fourth line minutes as thats what he will see in Pitt. I have seen him playing on higher lines but I think its a Pitt call.
Rowney has had an odd career here. He's always shown flashes but thats been it. He'd have a 2 pt game then disappear forever or worse he'd play horribly the next couple games giving us many wtf? moments
Then all of a sudden since maybe January, he has caught fire and it looks like everything has really just started to click with him on all fronts. His promotion in minutes is well deserved. He's a really nice guy as well I've met him a few times and had some fun talks with him. He seems really likeable and a good locker room kind of guy.
Id put him up there with Kuhnackle at this point where I didn't put much into him for a long time but all of a sudden the game has just clicked with them and they progressed seemingly overnight. Perhaps Rowney may find himself in Pitt next year if he keeps it up. |

Sorry I just love this chart too much not to post it
Look, I know I am just using 5v5 Sv%, which absolutely isnt the only thing that matters. I just like how it normalizes a lot (and largest sample size). Over the last 8 years (min. 5000 minutes) Fleury is 28th. Vokoun is 3rd. Bryzgalov is 20th.
Last 3/4 years (mason was traded at the deadline) the top 4 in the league have been Rask, Lundqvist, Price, and Mason. I haven't seen a single national media outlet give him that kind of credit. It is always the same old "Flyers goaltending issues" |

Yep... best years since the cup loss, are 2 in the last 3
I think most can agree, hes getting better and its not just the luck of being young and on a hot streak. |

This is a lot like what I said to you when I first joined this site about Dubnyk not deserving Vezina consideration. I said he was good for half a season and got nominated when others such as flower have been good consistently so they deserve the nomination instead. To which you said no. Not trying to start poop, just saying. |

you guys could really use a gostisbehere for your playoff run. He'd bring the clutch-ness you've been missing. |
