If there is no recency bias, shouldn't Carey Price be the clear cut MVP? I mean, look at what happened to MTL. The Pens and the Hawks would not be nearly as good without Crosby/Kane, but they would survive and be respectable. Price goes down (and some others) and MTL is the worst team in the league. He is the Canadians and has to be the most valuable player to his team, more so than any other player is to their respective team.

Now, I don't actually think that Price should win. But I think this shows there has to be some bias on how the player performs down the stretch.

Had Carey Price appeared in more than 12 games, you could make a much better case. Say he played in maybe 45 games and went down and the Habs went from top of the division to out, that's different.
