Straight up if Benning does an offer sheet he is going to be blackballed like KLowe. Big mistake.

Probably not going to happen , he doesn't seem the type but if one stood out then you consider it

It really is a brutal idea especially when you are near the bottom of the standings. There is a reason they are so rare. Make a lot of enemy's among your peers and give up top 10 draft picks

Do you really care if TO does not do business with us ever again?

People are expecting to much from a defense with 1182 games of experience, and 861 of those games are Hamhuis', the other 5 d-men have a combines 351 games, take Bart's 200 games and it's 151 games of experience between 4 guys. StL's D had 2397 games under their belt.

As I said earlier, I don't mind losing, it's how they're competing, or not competing, that's my issue. I know losing is part of building towards the future, I've been around a long time.

I think you said earlier Chicago had a couple good drafts and they were on their way, this is a complete fallacy! They drafted well years before Toews and Kane arrived, they don't win without Keith and Seabrook or the depth they drafted four to five years before Toews arrived.

It's going to take Benning seven years of good drafting to get the Canucks in a position to compete for a Stanley Cup again. Two in the books.

I've been saying the 7 or 8 year time frame since last season to people. I saw some panicky reactions to this. It's not as bad as it sounds though. People can expect a few years of good exciting hockey leading up to that. I would never suggest 7 years to be competitive... more like 3 or 4...

The captains should actually point they're finger and say who they expect more effort from instead of beating around the bush about it . Sedins need to grow some balls and actually speak up
- Cletuswest

Daniel mouths off about the team not trying yet the night before he is on a two on one breakaway with Grenier clearly in the open and he passes back to his brother who is covered. Glass houses

Next year will most likely be another lottery pick, which is fine, I only hope they're more structured next year with guys like Baertschi and Virtanen getting more minutes.

Not all games were technically sold out the last two times the Canucks made the playoffs. People assume it's a first round exit and it's just not enough. Ownership has out priced themselves obviously based on fan expectations.

When I lived in the LM still, a limo, the game, the #5, the bottle out the back door at 3am with a couple of dancing guests and the same limo waiting was pretty expensive for one night. I still did it even though the team wasnt making the playoffs. The game was just one part of the party.... and quite a few times I was tossed before the game was over anyways.

- boonerbuck

Ummm, We were discussing the detroit red wing (or at least that's what I was talking about them just making the playoffs but lots of empty seats). Van has been good but not decade(s).

I had to go back to the Penner thing to see how that worked out for all parties in the end....all that happened was Burke ended up hating us (no big) and Penner didnt work out to well for us in the end anyways....Burke did nothing with the picks he got for us signing Penner (in an ironic twist he used our 2nd rounder to draft Justin Schultz ) I think in the end a team should only consider an OS IF you know that guy is going to be a key piece moving forward....if not then its not really worth it

Ill be curious to how many show up if they make the playoffs

The team is at a crossroads with the fan base. Management want's everyone to be patient. I'm seeing heavily discounted merchandise everywhere. Playoffs are not an option. Even a winning streak wouldn't stop the bleeding this season. Give the fans a top 3 pick to generate sales for the summer.

Ya they can be competitive with a few more good drafts, but not a Cup team IMO until they get an elite center and a #1 dman...however long that takes.

There's so much to be said for a great top four defence though, you just gotta have that with a good 1/2 combo at center.

It's not the like Sedins have never been like that. They live and die by their overly-complicated-passing sword. And to be fair, that's one thing you're extrapolating to a whole. The Sedins are legit stars and are still whacking and going to the dirty areas when they could EASILY mail it in.

I agree a bit though with him... just from noticing some of the young guys – McCann, Virt, Baert at times, Gaunce/Grenier in their limited time – aren't hungry enough for the pucks, or going that extra 10% that's needed at this level. Most of us here have played high level competitive sport, and know the difference between the two levels of effort. If you look at Bo, he cares and puts it out there A LOT, sometimes trying to do more than he should. If you take JV and JM at the beginning of the year, and compare them to now, do you notice a drop in their effort and play? I sort of do.. (mind you, this could be injuries, fatigue, or other stuff we aren't privy to, but still.)

That was one of the very plays I was alluding to last night when I said they were making some very suspect plays the last couple of games. It was in reference to a "getting the memo" comment.

I would hate the very thought of any of the Canucks on the ice tanking deliberately but I'm not so sure the Sedin' wouldnt right now. They might be the kind of people who could over come the passion of compete for common sense. They can be told not to defend themselves and take 100 punches in the face during a playoff series so why not.

Not really. I'd enjoy never doing business w TO again. I care about losing top 10 picks for an asset we have to overpay.

It's taken Florida six years of drafting to get where they're currently at.

At least the Penticton Vee's are keeping me entertained with good hockey. Up 2 games on West Kelowna. Scott Conway is good! 20 Year old 6' center, un-drafted.
