you get your choice between like 1000 players. All picking 6th does is scratch 4 guys off the board. I just dont get it... there are plenty of amazing players drafted in the top 10. Is it really worth destroying the development of every other prospect in the system, just to upgrade 1 player? (moving from 6-3)

There's a difference, Stamkos is Captain of a playoff team and a legitimate contender in the East. And Kane/OV will never go to Free agency, as I said these guys dont go on the market often... and that's what the Canucks want in the draft... we have the salary to overpay... but I dont think you can compare Daniel with Stamkos lately, given Daniel horrendous play (he had like 8 shots last night I think?). I'm just hoping Trevor looks at it. They want a core player that will grow with the team, lock him up, it's just money.

Could you imagine the backlash if we somehow managed to secure a higher pick than Toronto?

The're closer to competing than we are. Add some D via trade and you might have something. It's not like they don't have assets to move, good coaching or management.

I heard that the Oilers would have had Kane but that empty net breakaway miss by Stefan gave them an extra point and thus the Hawks got the first overall... Crazy how that worked out...
