Agreed. This roster will turn over a lot before we see playoff hockey in this city.
Clearly I don’t know the first thing about running a hockey team but I would try the following:

To Ottawa: Jared McCann
To Vancouver: Mike Hoffman
I don’t think Ottawa wants to give him $5M x 4 and Vancouver can afford it.

To Washington: Brendan Gaunce, 2016 2nd (~35th overall)
To Vancouver: Madison Bowey

To Detroit: Alex Edler, Jannik Hansen
To Vancouver: Xav Ouellet, Teemu Pulkkinen, Anthony Mantha

I think projecting lineups is dumb and shows how little people actually know about hockey because the reality is the blender comes out all the time on just about every team. Sure Getzlaf and Perry play together a lot, and so do the Sedins, but how many lines can you think of that stay together for an entire season? That’s old school and hasn’t been the reality for a long time now. Instead, think of it in terms of a depth chart or pool of potential combinations.

LWs: Sedin, Hoffman, Baertschi, Etem
C: Sedin, Sutter, Horvat, Granlund
RW: Virtanen, Pulkkinen, Mantha, Dorsett, Burrows

D: Hutton, Tanev, Ouellet, Bowey, Pedan, Tryamkin, Sbisa, Biega

I'm still grumpy about losing but I understand that the Canucks will need to get as low as possible in the standings to try to secure a top pick. Luck will not be on their side on draft lottery day.

But hey—maybe Brock Boeser will ride in from Minnesota on his white stallion to pump up the Canucks' offense next season?
