Whether JB can fix either the forward lines or D getting 1 done is a great start.
If big changes and both get done after wizardry moves thats awesome.
I cannot see that happening in 1 offseason n can can live the D being a longer process if we can at least get more scoring upfront n players like Bo can play where they can excel. JV could be in the same boat ideally on the 3rd line. I'm assuming we get a top 3 pick n 1 of 2 top 6 players r accounted for n why not get the 2nd as a UFA but only if quality or simply lump it.

The numbers suggest he's a good 3/4 guy miscast as a 1/2 guy.

Using the UFA's/RFA's n the top draft pick this year who r the 3-4 players we can predict here next year?
Using a 2C n Sniper n 2 top 4D as the shopping list.
List the combos of 3-4 players that fill those needs that can be had.

edmonton fans have been saying the same about their own team for most of the decade ....all those high picks didnt seem to do sh&t for them. Theres obviously more at play then.

If he was paired with a true number one we would not be female doging about him.
Edler is not the problem.
If somehow magically we get a true number one, our defence would be fixed.
Not gonna happen but taking the best defender out of our lineup will not fix it.

I agree with everything you just said 100% except the highlighted bit. WE'd still need a defensive framework to work in and thats not there currently. THat will fix the defense. A real #1 will just help it further.

free player? You gotta give up compensation for that. You can lose 1-5x 1st rd picks for a single offer sheet. Thats FAR from free.

remember that the better the player the more picks you give up...the guys you were mentioning could rob us of 3x 1st rd for each player.

Your mentioning of offense from D shows you dont understand what defensive structure means. Its breakout patterns, positioning in relation to your goaltender, rebound control and neutral zone transitions. Nothing to do with offense dude.
