Granted we are without Edler Hamhuis for awhile, and Sutter for most of the season. But still id agree with you, hope Benning makes a play for Vantanen/Myers/Trouba/Hamonic/Barrie |

Burke and Treliving are not dummies by any stretch - VANTEL
youre kidding right?
Burke has had good moments but there have way more and too many huge blunders to call him even somewhat smart.
His work in Van and TO prove that pretty clearly, as does him not being allowed in Gm position since. |

or maybe the coaches needs to get the boot
when its the entire D core its not the individual players its a crappy system or lack there of
meanwhile an upgrade or 2 wouldnt hurt |

Gotta agree here. Burke acquired that Anaheim cup team that was already built by Brian Murray. Left Nonis an absolute mess in Van and with a fresh start in TO sure he made the PO's once but really he did mostly nothing there. I'm sure he has influence in Calgary but really Treliving is the sharp guy there…not Burke.
I will give Burke credit for drafting the Sedins and Burkes draft record has been decent. Bringing in Pronger and Giguere in ANA…but outside of a few lucky moves the guy is pretty overrated. |

hes had even more failures in drafting than successes. Hard to truly credit him with sedins pick because they were gonna go in top 3 anyways. Its like saying the edmonton GM is a genius for picking mcdavid. Hed have been picked top 2 anyway by someone. Pronger as well. Those were no brainer picks. Who the f*ck else did he pick that was good? Brian allen maybe?
Ok so he signed and discovered bieksa. big woof
The team burke inherited in Van was built by quinn and later in a brief time by keenan. not sure who drafted kesler tho |

surely you cant even count torts and crew! that 1 shouldnt even be considered.
bowness was a much better D coach than lidster. I wasnt a big bowness fan at all, but clearly he was nhl level compared to lidster.
our D has sucked donkeys since they came on....how can you NOT look at coaches?! We were never that god awful previous to that ....only leaves 1 thing |

I'd do it over again in a heartbeat ...gave up a first and had an excess of 2nds to throw in...D men in the draft are a crapshoot ...rather than draft a Kid who won't be ready for years we got a 22 year old who is a .5p/game in his career ...Hamilton struggled early but has gotten better as the season progressed - Redmile247
Too be fair, i noticed his struggles early on (as it appeared in sharp contrast to what he was billed as), but haven't paid attention of late.
I'll take your word that he has gotten better. |

It was a no brainer. Wait a while - VANTEL
That's what i said, it seemed like a good gamble at the time.
I think most people expected him to have a greater impact early on though.
I'd characterize his performance as a disappointment so for, although the resident flames dude say's he's improved.
If he was a Canuck. Half the board would be calling for him to be traded and saying JB was an idiot for giving up draft picks. |

I always thought Burke made some decent moves (beyond always bringing his buddy Nonis everywhere he went )
Just curious what the blunders are that you refer to. Not trying to provoke, just wondering. |

Yeah I hear you. I don't think Pronger was a Burke draft pick but an acquisition from EDM after Prongers wife found out he was banging that local A-Channel weather girl. It was basically we are out of EDM or I'm taking half your shat…

We've cycled through a number of coaches.
I'm looking at the personnel.

-traded pronger from hartford.
-god awful draft picks...pat white? etc
-god awful trades for guys who never worked out....dave gagne was here what 2 months? Martin brouche? etc
-revolving door of goalies (graveyard). Trend that followed him to TO....(Nonis fixed that both times)
theres a lot of gillis haters out there but honestly he was an upgrade on burke if you think about it

no no....burke drafted pronger when he was GM in hartford. He later traded him away to st louis where he quickly became a star under keenan (who traded for him) |

so the entire D sucks including a olympic gold medalist from 2014? Um no.
so the entire D seems to make the same errors and seems out of position? No again.
we cycled through MANY more players already than coaches.
youd have to hit the huge suck lottery for that to happen
its a flawed system they play in. Thats a coaches domain. Very simple
add that the extreme suck immediately hit with the new bench bosses coming in. |

And who do you think had major input in the Dougie Hamilton trade (big D)? That deal had BB written all over it. |

That's not what I said. Go back and read my post.
sorry. I couldn't resist.
I like some of our D just fine. No i don't think we need to swap our top 8 out.
But i think we need some changes, need to make some space and target a top 4 that can hopefully grow into a top 2.
