Yes Hutton is playing top minutes. The sophomore slump isn't something that happens randomly, it happens because teams adjust their strategies against defending/trying to score on players. How will Hutton do with these adjustments? They will find his weaknesses (and there are many in the d-zone), we shall see if he can adjust and get better or not. He's played top minutes for what 10 games? His defensive numbers are not very impressive, but he is our only offensive d-man right now. I would be pretty happy to see anyone 28 and older traded, I think we both agree there. - neem55
I agree.
Cautiously optimistic at this point.
Next year will give us a better gauge of his ability.
History shows that if a player struggles for some time, he will be included in every trade proposal from the fanbase.
Dano only scored eight goals in 35 games in 2014-15. Coming into last night's game, he had two in 21 games this year with Chicago and Winnipeg. The 21-year-old looks like a superstar when he plays in Rogers Arena. I wonder if he would have been able to produce like that if the Canucks had been able to acquire him as part of a Dam Hamhuis swap with Chicago?
According to Nighthawk, that was never considered. - we_are_all_canucks
Source? FYI if not the Canucks or Hawks don't bother.
Full details if u can provide one.
I used to stream 1040 to listen to games while at work when i first moved here.
Then i discovered game center.
Let's just say its a good thing my desk is in a corner. And i actually prefer early games now, because with the time diff, i can watch an entire game at work.
How's Pratt doing? It seems like he's got his finger on the pulse of canucks fans. - dbot
Pratt is a walking colonoscopy and his sidekick is laughing STD . If you like we can ship them your way

Even is they get 7th, where I'm predicting, and they pick that Russian defenceman kid I'd be really happy. That's a good pick and a good prospect!

I'd take the Finn...simply because he isn't Russian. He is also ranked higher. That being said, most of our knowledge of the 3 top ranked Dman is fairly limited and I'm confident Benning will select the best D available whoever that may be. Not Fabbro

You are correct on this one...Ladd was always their first choice and Dano was included in the deal. It's irrelevant if Dano may have been included in a hypothetical deal that could never materialize. Speculation that the Canucks weren't interested in Dano is nothing more than useless speculation. Like most rumours from the TDL

I am not worried in the least about Hutton. I will go on a limb and predict he will remain in our top 4 next year.
Those who want to worry about him can . - VANTEL
I wouldn't say i'm worried about him, pleasantly surprised actually.
I am cautiously optimistic that he will be a serviceable 3-4 (similar to Tanev).
I don't get the feeling that he will be a top Dman though.
Hope to be proven wrong.

Benning said he would take a forward in the first round if it was an obvious pick (top 3)
After that I expect him to take Sergachev Chychrun or Juolevi in that order. After that I think he would surprise us.

I think he is smarter than Tanev and Edler I am sure if he was asked what he would bring to a deserted island it would be 10 naked ladies and not Grandmas sandwiches.
I don't expect him to be a number one Dman. He is not overly big ,overly strong , no bullet shot. He is a 23 year old fifth round pick that is out performin all the other D.

Why would he take the lower ranked Russian defender? All else being equal, he will take a Canadian or Finn. Chychrun stock seems to have fallen because of the WJC for some inexplicable reason but he is still the topped ranked Dman

His shot. We need a guy who can fire the puck from the point
Check out that Larsen highlight video. - A_SteamingLombardi
I seen it. Very impressive.
Right now we have Sven and Vrbata as the big shot from the point. WD and Benning have walked away from the other options like Tanev Hamhuis and hopefully Edler.
He is targeting one or two guys that can fire the puck. That is why I think they go after Sergachev and Larsen.
Hutton moves the puck fine , we need a guy to fire the puck

You watched last night, he's a good young Dman that needs to improve or he'll be the next scapegoat.

People that make him the scapegoat are idiots.
He is 23 years old making 800 k
We pay Edler Tanev Hamhuis and Sbisa who are all older making 4/5 times the amount he makes to do what he is doing. He steps in and does their job for them.
