- A_SteamingLombardi

You know, I went out in that poop water, wind storms and all, to nail a BUNCH of dungy's yesterday…boy did we have an awesome crab boil last night.

Where was I going with this? Oh ya….so don't ruin my good mood with this pumpkin BS

I remember Kings fans, and their old blogger, what was his name, anyways, calling for Lombardi's head…..but then…..he made the deals for Carter and Richards.

That put them over the top to achieve their success. It only take a few moves when your team is ready.

Sutter took them to two cups and made the in game and between game adjustments to get them to the promised land and beat coach Q who i regard as the best of the lot. If Sutter can beat Q in a seven game series when the Hawks are at their best, then he's got to be worth something.

Sutter took that group of players and did something special with them in terms of style and system suited to the parts on hand.

Crawford/ AV could never take talented Nux teams and coach them correctly to get them the cup. In game and between game adjustments, roster changes, etc... were never what was needed to win and beat the opposition. Not being able to outcoach the other guy when it really counted.

Lemaire got the better of Crawford when that Nux team should have won and AV when he got beat 3 or 4 years straight... when the team should have won.

All good points of course I just figured Sutter had a pretty damn easy road with that team that Lombardi assembled for him. IMO Most if not all of the coaches you had on your list have done a lot more with a lot less than Sutter.

Yes Hutton is playing top minutes. The sophomore slump isn't something that happens randomly, it happens because teams adjust their strategies against defending/trying to score on players. How will Hutton do with these adjustments? They will find his weaknesses (and there are many in the d-zone), we shall see if he can adjust and get better or not. He's played top minutes for what 10 games? His defensive numbers are not very impressive, but he is our only offensive d-man right now. I would be pretty happy to see anyone 28 and older traded, I think we both agree there.
- neem55

He will do the same as every other second year player . Sophomore slumps are real but players adapt too and figure it out.

Yup they drafted 2nd overall to get Doughty, damn that kids good at hockey, and 5th overall to land Brayden Schenn. Whom they traded for Richards obviously.

I guess you could say the Kings also made out pretty good with a 11th overall pick in Kopitar as well.

Keep in mind, the Canucks have drafted 6th and 9th overall in the past three years.

Even is they get 7th, where I'm predicting, and they pick that Russian defenceman kid I'd be really happy. That's a good pick and a good prospect!

Building takes time…it's a marathon not a sprint.

Some do and some don't, not everyone can. Will Hutton? I personally think his d-zone play has gotten better, but is still not good. I hope it continues to get better, but you never know. Same with all the kids really. Except with d-men, they need to be able to defend.

It's true we've got a couple good picks already, I'm happy with that. The more the better in my mind though, Chicago drafted Barker before any of the good picks... it's not a definite thing, but I'm certainly hoping for top-5.

I am not worried in the least about Hutton. I will go on a limb and predict he will remain in our top 4 next year.

I think he gets a shot there too, whether he stays there the whole year is the question. I just hope we pick a d-man in the first round cause Hutton isn't enough going forward either way. I'm confident though, JB has really sounded reassuring the last few 1040's I've listened to. If we really trade our assets before they stagnate and go for that 1c and 1d in the draft , I will be a very happy camper.

I really like Bo, Markstrom and JV for the record, just not too sold on McCann and Hutton. It's kind of ironic because those are the guys with the most points.

Does Auckland have a 1040?
- A_SteamingLombardi

I used to stream 1040 to listen to games while at work when i first moved here.
Then i discovered game center.
Let's just say its a good thing my desk is in a corner. And i actually prefer early games now, because with the time diff, i can watch an entire game at work.

How's Pratt doing? It seems like he's got his finger on the pulse of canucks fans.

At least you're optimistic about 2 of the 10 players under 25 on the current roster.
