Totally agree with this the players want to win for sure and don't care about anything other than securing their spots for next season. Tanking for a pick is manipulated by MNGT and there is nothing the players can do about that. I have been a die hard Canucks fan for 44 years and always will be and do really enjoy the times when they win...having said that looking 3-5 years ahead the time for high picks is now. Not chasing an unattainable wild card spot just to get pummeled in the first rd. I get the whole making the PO's thing but with this roster and injuries...it won't be pretty.

The Sedins issue is easy. You protect just 1 of them. No team is going to take just one of them knowing full well they will not play without each other.

I like Sutter but I wouldnt automatically protect him. Given the state of the team, his age and his contract I risk him being taken unless I have room to protect him.

If I have 7 forwards to keep from this year's roster, I got Twins, Bo, JV, JM, Sven, annnd I want to protect a young guy like Etem, but probably be smarter to save Hansen or Sutter at that point since they would be more likely taken by an expansion team than Etem. On defense, you have the top 4 to save and obviously Markstrom in goal
