If the flames land a Fin(or heaven forbid matthews), they are going to be a female dog to play against in 3 years. - Crazybagoham
Brad at is a very smart and likeable guy. He is doing an excellent job. Lefty may not like it but Flames are turning into one of my top five. I am just as curious to see them progress as same as canucks |

Any top 3 pick adds a piece that will help this ...Mathews would be crazy though |

So would you trade Bennett or Monahan for wingers?
It makes me laugh just thinking you could have those three in the middle and the best you could do during Iginla's tenure was Conroy. |

I don't see any scenario where Mathews ends up in Calgary or Vancouver.
It will either be a Fairy Tale, Arizona... Or a nightmare, Edmonton.

Well their deals end in 2 years so hopefully we'll have it figured out by then. - golfingsince
I am a fan of JB and I would put money ( not a lot ) , but I think Hank will eventually raise the cup as a Canuck.
It's a big wish but if Pedan ( now playing top minutes for the Comets ) and Tryemkin work out it speeds up the rebuild by three years.
I am a huge fan of the looks of the team now. |

Monahan isn't going anywhere ....id move Bennett to the wing with Mathews ...but if the flames win the lotto and Janko signs then there has to be a trade of some sort of imagine |

Agreed, its only been...3 seasons since they traded iginla/bowmeester? its crazy. My favourite is how he went out and picked up Frolik, who fits in so well with the team. though I dont really like the Flames, Bennett/monahan/gudreau are just excellent picks, I keep thinking of what one of these top 5 forwards will do... if they can get an actual goalie (Like frederik anderson like summer) they are really going to be a quality team top to bottom. |

As bad as it sounds I wouldn't put it past the league to make sure edm does not win the lotto ...also to make sure Arizona does |

they'd probably switch Bennet, I think they've done that before, he's still in that McCann "young center" phase where he's not too great at faceoffs. Monahan would be a crime to trade/move to wing, he fits the flames so well. |

I think we have a ways to go yet, so if Hank is going to raise the cup as a Canuck him and Danny will need another deal after this one.
I'll be happy if tree is top 4 and Pedan top 6. |

I enjoyed that article Lefty posted last night about the seven person core. I liked that Edler and Tanev were not the primary core for the future. |

Personally I wouldn't move Monahan either, but would trade Bennett for a natural winger or the pick to get one. You could probably get the deal sweetened a little as their is a premium on C's |

I did as well, Chicago has pretty much proved the model that has worked: 2 pairings of top 6 wingers (including a guy that is a stud at faceoffs) a pairing of d men with chemistry and a goalie, flames just need the goalie.
Our imaginary 7 man imo:
Baertschi-horvat
Virtanen-Granlund
Hutton-tryamkin
Markstrom
meh not too bad I suppose |

yeah but you arent getting a better young winger than Bennet in a straight up swap, I'd just switch him to wing. Flames have proven they have all the time in the world for small-offensive minded guys to insert with the big guys. If they got matthews, I would slot in Bennett as his permanent winger, though something tells me we wont see Matthews go to a Canadian team. |

hahaha no, it's okay, hopefully this year's draft will make that look a bit better. was trying to mke the point of how poor it would look, but it could be worse I suppose should have probably put down Demko though, was going with young guys with some established chemistry |

It would have to be an overpay and those typically dont happen ... Anything is possible tho |

Yup I know Vantel is saying the Twins will be extended. History is made.
I think top players have a shelf life of 5-7 years that they dominate, so in three years ANA Kings Hawks OV and Stamkos will be secondary players. Jäger is a freak. The teams in 3 to four years should be us Flames Oilers Leafs Sabres ( IMO) .
I think in 3 or four years Danny and Hank can still produce but I sure hope they are not on the same line. I really like the new look PP , I don't want the twins on the PP 75-90 seconds cycling.
Develop the kids under Sedins guidance. |

With all the talk of what to do at the draft here, i'll be happy if we get a top line forward or top pairing D TBH. I value #1C and #1D above all else, but unless we draft first overall it's a huge gamble that we'll get either. |

Conroy's best years were in Calgary and without him there they don't make no cup final in 2004. He was very…very good there in the early 2000's. A 20+ goal scorer every year in Calgary except 03/04 where he was injured and on pace for 20. That 2004 team put together basically by Craig Button (not Sutter) was a damn good hockey club that probably should have won that cup. Bettman took it all away when the Gelina goal in gm 6 wasn't reviewed properly or allowed. Clearly it was in. But Gary needed teams in the deep south to do well so there it is. I remember that Flames run clearly and I am surrounded by Flames and Oilers fans living in the hub of Alberta which is Red Deer. I'm not even a Flames fan and know that it was a magical time..the red mile was crazy cool then…things were hopping. |

Agree and I thought this was going to happen last year you can bet your next 500 paycheques Bettman ain't letting the Oil get first overall this time. |

And I agree, I enjoy watching the team most night, win or lose. Couldn't say the same thing the last 3 years |
