What do the flames have? Seriously, gaudreau isn't anything special, never will be. Monahan is Horvat, Bennett is McCann. You guys have (frank) all and you come in here on this high horse. Where are your (frank)ing goalies? Ortio and Ramo? Lmao.

Hamilton is overpaid. Giordano had one good year. Brodie isn't anything special. (frank), you guys are worse than us this year, that's a (frank)ing accomplishment. Congrats, your team is pooptier than our rebuilding team that is supposebdly way behind your poopty rebuild.

Don't get me going on your ass hat coach. (frank) that guy. Fire him before he ruins everyone.

The power play has looked a lot better as well. A lot better movement. I think when the twins are together they almost look for each other a bit too much.

Next year or the year after I think you'll have to seriously consider splitting them. not only to spread the offense around, but I don't think you cannot afford to have two guys as slow as the sedins on the same line just for defensive purposes. You can see how much their lack of speed is a liability is on 3 on 3.

I really hope Canucks management can surround the Sedins with enough talent to give them at least one more shot. Winning the lottery would be a god send, having 15mil next year for cap space should help and having Miller, Burrows, Higgins (another 13mil) coming off the following year gives them a lot of flexability to turn this team around pretty quick

- Mungo

The entry (though while still not very good) on the PP is so much better without Hank, you;re right the Sedins are predictable, and so many teams have video on them these days. Like the entry on the left side when they cycle on the blueline, hasnt worked since last year, so teams are going out of their way to learn the sedins little tricks. They still have that great down-low cycling game on the boards that is good for the kids, so I completely agree with everything you said.

I'm trying to say he's never watched them play.... so those are just labels and dont mean jack. You can call a guy "generational;" or "franchise" if you want but this isnt nhl 16, and sometimes a kid is a bust, if you havent scouted him yourself, you're just speaking out of your ass. IMO a weeklong WJC isnt enough to label a forward as a "franchise guy". I'm well aware Auston matthews is 1oa.... maybe read pages 2-8? Catch yourself up.... because clearly you dont read.
- Crazybagoham

Surprise surprise.
The old 'you clearly didn't read what was written' gambit.

But you did write That neither Mathews nor Laine were franchise players, unless you've scouted them personally at multiple games, talked to their barber, rubbed their feet with soothing scented oil you're just talking out of your ass hat. Go read the last 20 blogs and tell me what the common theme to your posts are? 50percent of the time your making noises about nonsense, 40 percent of the time you make up wild uncredible claims,8 percent of the time your flagged, and 2 percent of the time you sound logical.
Just so that we are clear, a generational player is not a franchise player, it is a player so skilled he only comes along once in a generation. Gretzky, Orr, maybe Mcdavid.
A franchise player is a player skilled enough to build your franchise around. The sedins are/were franchise players. Luongo love him or hate him could have been a franchise player, but he bounced around to much.
Doughty is a franchise player. Eichel should be a franchise player. These are top line with a bullet stars.
Elite players are those who are skilled enough to be franchise players but for whatever reason are not locked down and built around. I'll use Hossa and Spezza as an example.

Our maybe I'm way wrong. Doesn't matter my point is you were wrong when you said neither of them is Franchise quality player.
Or maybe I should have just said, your wrong.

not just the entry is better, but once they get in it just seems a lot less predictable. I love hank, but on the PP he sits on the half boards and just distributes. Goalies at no point are worried about him shooting. I think they need to move him down low or somehow find a big RHD he can be a threat from up top in order to open things up for hank a bit more. right now teams aren't scared of our D and just collapse on Hank.

Hammy, how much time do you spend scouting Matthews overseas? Given your history of nonsensical bs posts over the last several months I suspect none. Posters can't say that Matthews is going to be a number 1 center but you can definitively say he won't be? Laine is overhyped because of the WJC? What the (frank) do you know you about the Finns? How frequently have you watched him? Grow up Son :

I think the twins are the best thing that has happened to this franchise, (and I'm sure you agree) and being the consummate professionals they are, they'll continue to serve our team until they're unserviceable..they'll go down as the best pro sports players van has ever seen. From a coaching stand point, I'd like to see them kept together as a line but split on the pp and each work the wall and feed the kids/take responsibility and admit they've slowed as a unit and can better serve apart, feeding our young "snipers", and get these kids some stats and offence, not having to create but just post up and try and pick a corner. The pp without hank recently has looked hungry..and as excited as I am to get a >5 overall drafted player, I think getting the kids we already have here penciled for our 1/2 line centres and wingers accustomed to scoring nhl goals(rip shinkaruk -- side note, seems obvious that benning would trade him out considering his history of drafting character guys and the fact shin slid like 15 draft spots on draft day, his attitude being the catalyst for the slide )

I will admit I am pretty young and new to the nuances of running a nhl franchise, but after the gillis years of saying phuck it to the future and using all possible trade chips to build a contender, it's refreshing to see a brain trust in that's all in on building a draft-develop team, with emphasis on strong character and good team play. We've had 7 or 8 kids come in as rookies, and while not burning the league down like a mcdavid or panarin, been forced to focus on basics and not just their natural talents but playing a rounded nhl game.

Although I'm sure tanner could have done better.

Side note- I'm always following the team and league, but Been based out of Singapore for work for a couple years/ your guys' analysis is spot on compared to a lot of pundits, so thank you all - even the most in hinged of you- for keeping me interested

Life without Edler. He has been shut down for the year so the next 16 games are going to go a long way towards shaping the D next year.

I have a sneaky suspicion Tryemkin will play tonight. I expect a lot of mistakes in his game at first but he will add the space factor and be overpowering I think.

Hamhuis as his partner , is fighting for a contract and Canucks are getting an insight to see if they can move Edler.

If we are not drafting top three I think they will get Sergachev . I think his stay on the Comets will be short.

I think Pedan and Sbisa will be battling all next year for the third pairing spot.

We also will have Tate Brisebois and Neill on the Comets next year . All three are big guys that have an offencive game.

As I said last night if Pedan and Tryemkin are true NHL Dmen then it will speed up the rebuild for years

Big game tonight!! If the boys can get on a bit of a run now we should finish the season right around 9th spot in the conference and secure that mid-round pick while still missing out on the playoffs!

No way is Tryamkin playing today, they'll want him to get at least 2 or 3 good practices with the team in, more likely he plays Monday.

JM n JV with 1yr of a taste in the NHL has gone ok.
Offseason of weight programs n both will make strides.
JM should pattern his game after Yzerman.
JV pattern his like Neely.
1-2yrs can show a lot where they r at n next year will be an easier time to project if they r key in the top 6.

Once April 16th comes n goes I'm more curious to who JB targets as UFA's or RFA's if any. Say we pick a Finn either would step right in n speed our retool up. Still i'm in favour of an OS for Lindholm or Vatanen for an instant move up on D.

I think you are right ...with all the hype surrounding him in Van you have to let him get more accustomed to the ice and speed ...give him the best chance to impress

Just a feeling I have.

I think Benning would like to showcase him on National TV instead of local, and give a big Fuk you to Elliotte Freidman

Playoffs trump everything.

But I think they should at least let the kid get familiar with Willie D's systems etc before he plays. Don't wanna destroy his confidence. A few practices and taking in games from the press box and he'll be set to light the league on fire.
Has anyone ever won the Norris and Calder in the same year?
