Phil should use a different stick but he should also be the focal point of the 2nd PP unit.

That was a pretty good read. Never played competitively, so interesting to hear about kessel's struggles relating to his stick (possibly)

It's insane the number of open cages he's missed this season, not to mention posts hit and the odd broken stick. Players should be willing to try whatever it takes to be more successful. At least try a different stick in practise.... Perhaps he has.

Yes but how does the flex effect his Corsi and HERO chart?

I got a feeling if he hasn't been experimenting with a different flex, after last nights loss someone may have suggested he should.

Maybe when we beat this subject to death last night, we should have used a stiffer stick...

Ok forgive me for this time only, but I'm going to get my stiffened stick & flex it right into a bang bang that I will slap a shot into.

Even the Isles are having a hard time putting away the lowly Leafs in the 3rd period of a back to back on the road this eve. Some people put way too much stock into that recent Capitals loss.

EDIT: I jinxed it : / ... Leafs deserve to be in the lead though

Just thinking the same thing or something similar - the Leafs have been in a lot of games right till the death & got nothing! Maybe playing the real end game in a few??

This is basically the main complaints I have had with Kessel. Glad to see I'm not alone in my opinion.

I played with a stock Kessel stick at shinny once (ACC sells used player pro sticks) and was that thing awkward. It worked for him in Toronto.

But Kessel can't be faulted. Why are they asking him to take one timers on the pp?

Dunno... that was never his thing. He just kind of glided around till he felt like ripping a super wrister.

@jfk,

I believe you and I have both been saying the same thing for a couple of weeks now.

Also, I still have 3 Warrior Dolomite sticks from 3 years ago with 110 flex. I started with 6 (hockey monkey bulk buy) and can't break the damn things. Phil is welcome to them.

I'm sure others have too. But I find many are on one extreme side or the other with Kessel.

I could care less about his stick. His compete and battle level is awful. My 7th grade nephew could steal the puck off Kessel. Trade his @ss at the draft for a 1st, an A-level prospect & solid roster player.

Interesting but I find it hard to believe that he has not practiced this situation and been successful doing it in practice.
