Fully understand, good post.
I guess I'm just of the mindset that Jim Benning is gonna make fools out of a lot of people who've questioned his knowledge when it comes to putting some youth together.
If the Canucks sign Demko this off-season 2014 could be their greatest draft ever, big if I know, but if those kids all go onto good things at the NHL level, that's four excellent picks in one draft.
The last time we've seem this many kids under the age of 25 was when you got in. No one knew what Bertuzzi or Naslund or Morrison or the Sedins were going to be at that time.
Baertschi, Horvat, McCann, Virtanen, Hutton, Demko, Boeser, Tryamkin, Pedan, Etem…..all those kids except Hutton & Horvat have been acquired by Benning in the past two years.
To me that's incredible considering where the team was with youth under Mike Gillis! - LeftCoaster
Benning has done a very admirable job so far all things considered. |

We are getting Laine Vantel, Change is coming - CanuckDon
If indeed we get a 18 year old rookie on this team next year, plus Tryamkin, Pedan and that other KHL'er, plus Gaunce...i'll eat my words.
I think that is way to much youth for one season, and belive that the number of rooks this year has been a pleasant surprise, but an anomaly, not the norm or what should be expected every year.

It depends who we draft...top 3 will all be in the NHL next year. |

Mathews would make the jump imo, but both the Fins, it depends on the team.
Do the Oilers really need to rush another young winger? (no)
Does Buffalo ? probably not.

Right. I thought you were commenting on the 'new look' going forward, or expected new look that involves 3 rookie D men in our top 6 on next year's squad.
i'm just saying, nothing set in stone yet.
Lots of options which is good, but players could still be moved, or lost to waivers. |

Are we really goign to see etem-vet up on the top line again? It was worth a shot, but cmoooon willie. Horvat/Baertschi deserve to play with Dank. It will be nice to see these injured players come back, might start seeing the potential starting lineup for next season in the upcoming games, my best bet:
Hopefully we'll see Vey leave this summer, so he can stop brainwashing Willie into thinking he's a top line player. - Crazybagoham
I agree thatd be a good combo w daniel....prob the best combo we have left. Id like to see that in fact.
Although the sven bo JV combo looked amazing too.
I also wonder if this would be a good time to see burrows with Danny since they know each so well from years of being linemates. add a speedy center. |

I think you got that correlation wrong being thrust from a sheltered fourth line role into a second line center role for a 20 year old can be a tough transition.
But IMO he's done well with it for someone who wasn't ready for it. - LeftCoaster

I'm definetly liing the strategy, gives them more options to make trades (such as Edler/Hansen) to sign and have all these young/mid twenties guys. |

Geez that Benning is a dumb bastard. He has totally split the Hockey Buzz crowd here. Three new faces on D at least, four if you consider Hutton . The fool thinks he can bring in a rookie and have him play top minutes. I want Bieksa and Who is the guy we traded to TB ? Bring him back too.
In all seriousness when was the last time we were this excited about Canucks. We don't have enough roster spots to slot everyone all in .
I will take this new look team any day . Still cuts to do . - VANTEL
You shouldn't make fun of yourself. |

And there is the rationale for cleaning out the deadwood. First up is Burrows. Hamhuis, meh. |
