That's generally what scouting and drafting is - guesswork, based on variables before players play. All the variables are based on actual work...I wouldn't say any of this analysis is irrelevant. Wouldn't agree with the 'critical fail' aspect of part two, but I agree with most of it...and hopefully they're wrong about the 4th draft selection!
- Ronning4ever

The year after re-assessment and then the grading of the picks is not relevant. Until the players put some time in the NHL, it's not analysis, just jerking around.

Columbus won and pulled ahead of us, that's what I was referring to. We dropped behind Buffalo yesterday... keep it sliding
- neem55

theres no guarantee that translates into the same position in the draft. Its a lottery now. I heard we can can slide back too.

Just remember losing is not a good thing for a team either, team culture changes then. Youngsters grow up on losing team. We've seen that in TO, sabres and oilers. Not a good idea. The other problem with losing is its hard to keep talent and harder to attract talent. hampers the team long term

I expect this from you

You always shoot down everything and then three months later always apologize.

I said Canucks finish 7 th from the bottom , you say 14-17

I say Sutter I would be great for the team you said he is not good with Corsica.
I say Tanev is not that good you say he is wonderful
I said last year Canucks should target Lucic in the offseason , you said keep away. They did target him

That's ok I will be here in three months when you admit you were wrong again

- VANTEL

If you make it another 6 months you'll get a letter from the queen.

Dallas is a hot mess. Demers likely out for the season. Bet they wish they had Hamhuis now.

Goalies suck. Seguin is MIA.
First round exit coming up...

Tryamkin gets 832,500 dollars NHL base, 70,000 AHL salary. #Canucks

Tryamkin has option of going back to Russia and not the AHL if he doesn't make the #Canucks next year.

well JB managed to pull it off despite the odds and had to get creative to do it.
Time to toast him for his hard work and long term focus on building our new team

Tryamkin; "he will play in Van this season" Per JB. This is a great marketing move given the circumstances. If for no other reason than to see him clear the front of our net. Yes indeed

He certainly believes in what he's doing, I hope he's right!

can you imagine him being used for screens on PP? He's bigger than Rinne or Rask

This is his bonus time, no expectations from this train wreck for the rest of the season.

Buffalo looks like they are going to be really good teams to me. Look at how good Risto/ orielly/ eichel/rienhart have been, I honestly see them as a playoff team next year(much like Florida this year, maybe not that big of a jump). I realize that losing is not great for character and agree. If you land in the bottom 5, you have a great chance of winning a top-3 pick. I like the top-3 picks this year and so will continue to hope we slide. I don't see our young guys as lacking in character/going down the same road as Oilers. I think everyone on this board knows my opinion of the draft, including you. The difference between Buffalo/Edmonton is guys like Gionta, Bogosain and Gorges. The oilers have never had much leadership around the young guys, Ference was already too old when he got there but tried to show them. Much like Campbell/Mitchell/Jagr/Jokinen in Florida, guys learn from older players as much or more than coaches IMO.

Everyone outraged about Benning saying we'd draft a Dman, he said only if there was a player they couldn't skip over

I hope so, you can only mentally masturbate this issue so much. It's been a painful year, we move on.

ya as long as they are good character guys....like mitchell.
Buffalo is only 1 point better than us, not sure where that tells you things are going well for them.
What was your stance on the draft again? Not sure I recall it individually.

Biggest applause of the night was for the fan who said we're paying 2011 prices for non-2011 hockey.

That every team currently in contention has a top-5 pick or two as well as another first rounder in their core. While in our case JV and Bo might fit these bills, I'd like to see a top-5 c/w or d this draft to hopefully be one of those core pieces.

They have to go thru this, all teams do at some point. I'm actually liking the hockey now more so than the beginning of the year because the kids are that much better and getting minutes.

Been a long time since we've had kids to watch.

Like Pierre Mcguire stated a while back, the thing that will hurt the Canucks most is "Apathy".

ya I'm not much of a hockey family guy, I just look at who is productive. Eichel is quietly putting together a pretty impressive rookie season. He and O'rielly up the middle for the next while is going to be something. We aren't getting Reinhart, but we might get one or the finns or Matthews
